So my brother and sil bought a time share and it is part of Wyndham. She told me next year we could stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek or Wydham Grand Bonnet Creek.

So which one is the thread on here dedicated to? What is the difference between the two?

My sil has no idea as they just bought the timeshare while on vacation in Las Vegas.

The Grand is a Wyndham hotel smack in the middle of the timeshare resort. I know our timeshare doesn't allow us to book at their hotel locations, but maybe your brother's does.

No. When people refer to the Wyndham Bonnet Creek, they are referring to the timeshare portion.

When they refer to the Wyndham Grand, they are referring to the hotel portion.

The big, long thread is about the timeshare portion.

They are technically different properties and they have different rooms, rates and amenities.

As the other poster mentioned, your brother and SIL may have priveleges at either, but when people discuss them, they are discussing one or the other. They are not one and the same.

Your SIL should have no problems getting into the Wyndham Bonnet Creek timeshares, provided she plans ahead a little.

It's a very large resort -- six towers, about 1200 villas ranging from one bedroom to four bedroom. Very nice resort, perfectly located and actually closer to the parks than Pop or All Stars.

She will NOT be able to use her points at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, but if she stays at WBC she will have access to all Grand amenities, including pool and spa.

Actually... I think there is now a way you can use your timeshare ownership in order to stay at a Wyndham Hotel property, such as the Grand. I don't recommend using it however.

Wyndham now allows you to "convert" your Timeshare ownership points into their hotel rewards program, "Wyndham Rewards", points. Wyndham Rewards points can be used for free stays at participating Wyndham hotels.

The Value however of doing so is not there at all as it takes an extremely large number of Timeshare points to earn enough Wyndham Rewards points to qualify for a free stay at the Grand. You basically would spend easily 2 or 3 times the points for a week in a nice hotel room as you would need to for a week in a 1Bdrm Presidential unit at the Timeshare resort in the tower next door.

The practicality, actual costs, or even the details on how to do it however are often not even mentioned or hinted at when the timeshare Sales people are telling you about all the benefits of ownership. "Not only can you use your points for stays at any Wyndham Vacation Resort property, but you can also redeem your points for free rental cars, airfare, or hotel stays at places like the Wyndham Grand!" (A rental car would cost easily over $1000 for a week if you calculate your cost-per-point on the number of points needed for the car rental)

This is also a general FYI on the way things work so that you can let your Brother and SIL know and they'll be aware of it. They may also want to check out the Wyndham Owners Group forums to learn how to best utilize the points they have purchased.

Yes it is true, you can use your points for the Wyndham Grand, but like the person previously said, it is not worth it. It would take 30,000 points for one night at the Grand, and in comparison to 166,000 points for a 1 bedroom deluxe for prime time in the timeshare section. You are much better to pay out of pocket for the night, it is far cheaper in the long run. The rooms at the grand are nice, but the timeshare sections is much better.
