Hello Diser's. I was just making reservations for next week. What's happening?? I have reservations for the 10th and I have never seen the rates so high. It's too early for Spring Break. Is it a convention??? :tink:

I've been wondering the same thing as I've search dates. It seems the area is going to be fairly busy until May. It may be that you are going during spring break, look at the distribution in the poll linked below.

There is a decent sized convention that weekend too.

I am going this weekend and the DLH is pretty much sold out...I know there is a dentist convention, and a few other things, but man it seems SLAMMED!!!

Maybe the economy is coming back :worship:?!?!

That reminds me of another thing.

Disney was talking about it's quarterly result a week or two ago and said advance bookings were very high.

Of course then there was trouble right after in the middle east, and oil shot up in price. This probably means that further down the road Disney bookings are dropping since oil prices affect airfare. Because of how far ahead people book disney trips, remember this is not just DLR but WDW and DCL, we might see pricing relief in the late summer.

I spoke to the front desk at the DLH last week. We are arriving in about 4 weeks. She said all 3 hotels are completely sold out that week.

Touring Plans has March 12 listed as "Spring Break Season Begins" and crowd levels are very high. I just booked a last minute trip for next week (not at a Disney hotel though) and got a good rate. Crowds are predicted low the first part of the week but pick up towards the end and shoot up after that for all the spring breaks coming up.

Oh yeah! :cool1::banana:

I hope that poll is true, lol....we're going first week of May and only 2 people have their spring break then! Hmmm, I wonder how much a single poll on DIS represents reality?

So does it say when things go back down to normal?

I think May is usually pretty quiet (relatively speaking) so you should be good. Even though Easter is late this year I'm guessing most schools want their spring breaks in March or April. Have a great trip and hope the crowds are low for you!

We'll be there at the end of April, along with everyone else, since that's when my nephews have spring break.

Have you tried looking at orbitz.com for prices? I orginally booked GCH through Disney but canceled when I saw I would save a little over $100 booking on Orbitz instead.

I come in often on a short notice. I have an elderly Mother and a handicapped Brother that will get doctor appointments without not much notice. I understand your concern CrazyDuck for the short time looking for a reservation, but I have never seen hotel fee's like this time. I got awesome rates for the D23 Expo in August, but I planned well ahead. I am retired from the Dental Community so, skiingfast and Peace.love.mickey, that explains a lot! I made my reservations yesterday. I will have transportation so walking distance was not an issue. I am about 8 miles from the parking structure and I got $89.00 a night room rates. Not too bad for late planning. Thanks everyone!:disrocks: :tink:

If you look at the calendar with Park hours, you can see that hours become MUCH more extended starting Monday, March 14th. If you back that up to include the weekend, I would say Spring Break season starts March 12th.

Arriving on the 10th would seem to be just in front of the storm. Add in a couple of conventions and any "early vacationers" or people adding a few days to their Spring Break and - boom - next week.

Does anyone know what Touring Plans says for 3/9 and 3/10? We are taking our almost 3-year-old for an early birthday surprise...his first trip to Disneyland! We are going midweek to avoid the crowds (keeping my fingers crossed!)

Both days are listed as 2 out of a possible crowd level of 10. I would say you should be fine! :) However, no fireworks or Fantasmic, just so you know!

Thanks so much -- I hope they are right this time! Bummer about the fireworks and other shows, but since it's our first trip with our son, we are going to focus on the rides. We are getting AP's, so we have time for fireworks and Fantasmic on another visit :-)
