3 studios (either value or standard view) at AKV at 7 months out for a stay from 12/20/13 to 12/26/13? Inlaws all want to do another Xmas at Disney next year. SIL has AKV points and will book her villa (probably a 2BR) at 11 months out. Other SIL is looking to rent points to book a studio...not sure, but possibly could book it near the 11 month out mark. We have OKW points that we share with MIL and would need to book 3 studios (1 for MIL and FIL and the other 2 for my family of 5). We only have enough 2013 and 2014 (we'd have to borrow from) points for these 3 studios (V or S view only) or one 2BR that all 7 of us would have to share (um, no thanks!). How likely will we be to get those cheaper views at 7 month window...and 3 studios to boot?

Better chance for standard then value for sure. I'd say you'd be lucky to get 1 value. Are you looking for kidani or jambo? Where will the others be choosing at 11 months? My worry would be you could get 1 value (only at jambo) and all others would be at kidani. Not sure if that matters to you. But I would guess you have a better shot at kidani in general since it's bigger. But over christmas anything may be tough. Are you planning to book your home resort at 11 months to guarantee you have a place to stay? Or do you not have enough points for that?

Christmas time at a non-home resort and multiple villas can be tough. You won't get value villas. You might get one, maybe two standard villas. Three is a real long shot. Your family of five would fit in a standard one bedroom. Could you do that?

With your family of five, the others in the second studio either have to have a parent with them or be old enough to stay in a studio (18 yrs old).

I just read that value studios are smaller...so we don't want those anyway and would prefer 3 standard studios and don't really care if it's Jambo or Kadani. We would be able to divide up in the studios to have an adult in each. We could do a 2BR for all 7 of us (which would be same as a 1BR for the 5 of us and a studio for MIL/FIL, but a 2BR is less points). We don't really want to share a 2BR with inlaws since my 3 kids are teens...last year we shared a 2BR at OKW and DH and I stayed in the studio part with our 2 DDs-12 (we really missed that master and the tub I always like to use), MIL/FIL took the master and DS-14 slept on pull out chair (had to deal with FIL waking up and coming out at 6 am). Me thinks it won't work out. I could book 3 studios at OKW at 11 months out...but we don't want to stay there (did it last year so doesn't appeal to us to stay there again...never stayed at AKV yet and that would be a highlight of the trip to stay there).

If you went with a 2 bedroom you could do a lock off and put the grandparents in the studio, you get the master, and the 3 teens in the living area. Then at least if grandparents woke early, they'd have their own space. At least it's another option to consider. More options give you a better chance of getting something.

All two bedrooms at Jambo House are lockoffs.

Yup. I also meant to mention that if you do go the route with the 2 bedroom, I'd suggest choosing kidani (where you have the choice of lockoff or dedicated, subject to availability of course) if possible so you get the 3 bathrooms. Might be more manageable that way.

That was the idea last year, but inlaws refused to take the studio as it wasted a bed and they couldn't fathom the 3 kids all sleeping on pull-outs in the living room...they insisted we take the studio with our girls (not really what I was wanting and we had always done a 1BR with our kids and put them in the living room, so it wasn't a big deal but MIL just wouldn't understand). They'd likely insist on the same. Not wanting 4 of us in a studio again.

Ah that stinks! Well I hope you can get the 3 standard studios then. Still would highly advise that you book what you can at 11 months with the hope to move at 7. Good luck!
