"What's the Catch - Do I Not Get Bacon?" - 11/27 - TR started!

I can't imagine going through such high temps without an AC. I hope Johnny is able to find one he likes soon.

How fun that you were able to watch some vintage WDW videos. 1992 was a good year, that's when Splash Mountain opened. :goodvibes

Your ADRs look great. I would definitely plan a meal at Boma for breakfast and dinner if I were staying at AKL.

Congrats on having enough AirMiles. With how expensive airfare is it definitely helps!

All caught up!

I am loving all of your photography tips - and your pretty new camera! I just bought a new one myself (Canon T5i) and it is amazing so far.

Your Canada day weekend looked fantastic! And I love the fireworks pictures that you took.

I'm so sorry to hear the news about your cousin, I hope that they can find a transplant match for him soon.

It is great that you were able to change your dates, get flights, save a bunch of money and keep your dining reservations that you really wanted. This is going to be a great trip for you!

So the hot weather has gone that far north? ouch! Ours is finally breaking. :cool1:

Nothing like an old Disney movie to keep you entertained. That's so cool!

Good luck with the flights!

That is brutally hot without AC!

Your plans look really good and I'm glad you didn't have to change too much. Good luck on booking flights!

So much fun reading your PTR...I am late to the game but it is enjoyable. Loved the opening with tall the fun photos.

Lucky you on that free dining pin and good luck with your flights.

This heat is starting to get to me haha I love warm weather but we aren't used to this! As for an air conditioner, we are also on a hunt for one. If you come across a good one, I would appreciate any information you have haha Also I am so excited that your store converts old VHS to DVDs....where is it that you work? I have old tapes that are all Christmas cartoons that my mom would love to have on DVD so I was going to get that done for her this year :)

I love your ADRs! We are just looking at them now as I think we will be heading back in May depending on vacation time haha :)

Ugh, I could not handle that kind of heat without an A.C. That's brutal! Thank goodness you can at least catch a bit of a break at other places, but still....:scared:

Hooray for getting enough AirMiles! Seems like your November trip is coming together quite nicely.

/
Looks like your trip plans are falling into place! :thumbsup2

The heat has been brutal this week in our DC area with highs in the mid 90s but the humidex or heat index or whatchamacallits that meterologists like to use for the temp of how it feels has been 105-110. Thank goodness for AC, that's all I've got to say. ;)
Everything's coming together, it's a great feeling!
I can't wait to get our AC installed, although it's cooled down a little between yesterday and so far this morning. I just have a feeling that when we do get the AC installed, it will instantly turn into winter. :lmao:

Johnny finally decided on and ordered the AC unit thank goodness! Haha it will be in tomorrow.
My first visit was in 1991 so watching the '92 videos was kind of fun, looked a little like our own!
We just had to take advantage of being so close to Boma, we love it there!
Ahhhh the AirMiles, what a life saver!

Yay for being caught up! :thumbsup2
Ooohhh a T5i is a nice one. I had the T3i and loved it, but with the T5i they increased the frames per second, newer processor too. I bet it's a beauty!
Thanks for your concern, things are moving at a snail's pace for my cousin and he and his family are getting angry. They were promised that they would hear something today... here's hoping!
I'm so glad the date change worked out, everything but the Food & Wine which I can live without. I can't wait!

So the hot weather has gone that far north? ouch! Ours is finally breaking. :cool1:
Yup, it fooouuund us! Hahaha I still live this far North for a reason! I don't like it too hot!

Nothing like an old Disney movie to keep you entertained. That's so cool!
It was really fun to watch, loved the old costumes especially!

Good luck with the flights!
Thanks! We have them booked, I was hoping to get in an update but I just keep running out of time!

That is brutally hot without AC!
Yes, it absolutely is! Haha the AC unit comes in tomorrow so hopefully Johnny can get it installed quickly and easily!

Your plans look really good and I'm glad you didn't have to change too much. Good luck on booking flights!
I'm glad too, I liked what we had so I didn't want to change much. For free dining though, I sure don't mind setting the whole thing off by three days. :thumbsup2

So much fun reading your PTR...I am late to the game but it is enjoyable. Loved the opening with tall the fun photos.

Lucky you on that free dining pin and good luck with your flights.

:welcome: not late at all, I still have over 100 days to go :thumbsup2 And thanks!

I am so sorry to hear the bad news :( but I really hope his sister is a good match. I'll keep my fingers crossed and send all the good vibes I can :goodvibes

It's awesome you took advantage of that FD pin though! :woohoo: Those are pretty much the exact dates my parents have booked, but at this point I really can't see them going despite my Dad's best efforts to try and convince my Mom that they can actually do this year AND next September with a cruise already booked for this October, and some house upgrades that need to get done before the end of the year.

All those ADR's look awesome though, and I'm sooo glad you still get to have your BOG ADR :worship: :wizard: I can't tell you how jealous I am  I LOVED it there :cloud9:

The heat has finally decided to subside a bit over the past few days here, which has been a very nice break from the scorching temps we had last week. Glad to hear you had lots of A/C access though! Hopefully you guys get your A/C soon :thumbsup2

If you come across a good one, I would appreciate any information you have haha Also I am so excited that your store converts old VHS to DVDs....where is it that you work? I have old tapes that are all cast Christmas cartoons that my mom would love to have on DVD so I was going to get that done for her this year :)

I love your ADRs! We are just looking at them now as I think we will be heading back in May depending on vacation time haha :)
Well, we are getting a heat pump, which does the AC in the summer and heat in the winter. It's an LG model but I couldn't tell you exactly which one! Ill ask Johnny and get back to you! Lol
I work at Japan Camera in Sydney :) I love converting old videos, it's so much fun popping the VHS tape in and not knowing what's going to come up!
Ooh, good luck for may! I've never been there in the spring, it's on my to do list.

It's been rough, I don't mind the days, I have AC at work and when I get home I go to moms pool, but the nights are brutal, my poor fan isn't cutting it. The AC should be in tomorrow! (And the forcast is rain for 5 days!)
I was so happy we got enough air miles!

Thanks, now if we could just get the doctors moving a little faster! :(
So excited for the free dining pin! Hehehe I hope your parents find a way to go anyway, but that is a lot of other stuff going on.
I love hearing how much everyone loved BOG because I'm so scared that my high hopes will be let down when I get there!
Tomorrow we should be getting the AC, and have you noticed we are in for 5 days of rain? :/ lol

You are leaving on Mickey Mouse's birthday!! ;). That's so great your plans seem to be falling into place! It's finally cooling off here in NH what about for you? Also, I saw you were worried about high expectations for BOG... When I get back should I just say "it was ok.... Ehh you know, it was BOG..... It was a good experience... I guess...." To bring them down a little ;)

I will have to drop off those old movies to you! I have been meaning to do it for a few years now lol

We went in May the time before last and loved the weather but I have a free dining pin for this fall/winter which is hard to ignore haha I don't think I would get all the ADRs I want booking this late though. I can't wait to hear about BOG.....I will be booking that for may :)

Hi Wendy! First of all I hope your cousin has had some positive news for the liver transplant.

I'm so glad that your plans feel perfectly into place including using your PIN to save a ton of moolah! That's awesome that your changed dates didn't affect your ADRs too much. That BOG is highly coveted - glad you were able to keep it.

It looks like your heat wave has passed. whew! That was some brutal temps.

On camera news....I just picked up a Nikon P7700 to replace my Sony HX. I do have to use manual settings for some of the low light shots but overall I like the performance of the camera. I need to go back and review your photography 101 lessons! It's no high end or professional camera but it is meant to be a point and shoot and it does pretty good! :)

Mickey's birthday? Cool!
Plans are coming along great, I'm so excited. It cooled off here for a day but then it warmed up again. It's raining today, but so hot and sticky!
Hehehe I can't wait to try BOG, I'm pretty sure it won't be disappointed, but you can tell me it was just ok. :thumbsup2

The transferring doesn't usually take too long, just a couple of hours :)
Free dining pins are really hard to ignore! I had to ignore one last year. I can't wait to get to BOG, it's the one thing I'm most excited about I think!

Hi Brenda!
Unfortunately no news for my cousin. Just an appointment in over two weeks time, absolutely terrible that they can't get anything done any sooner.
Honestly, if the new dates cut BOG out, I would have paid for dining before losing that reservation! :rotfl2:
Ahh the heat passed but the humidity is way up. We're not used to this kind of weather here!
Ohh the P7700 is a really nice camera! It's a high end point and shoot for sure, I bet you'll be really pleased with it! :thumbsup2

Yay for AC! :woohoo: And yeah...this weather has been killer! It's only 21 degrees, but thanks to the 100% humidity (and no rain at the moment, I might add) it feels like 30! :scared: The only saving grace from this humidity is that it's not hot and sunny...well, it feels hot, but not like it was when it was sunny...either way, I feel like I'm swimming in the air :crazy2:

Hi Wendy-

Just want to pass along some positive energy for your cousin. I hope you all get some good news, soon!

We were in Orlando last week. Who knew we could dodge a heat wave by going to Florida in July??? It was warmer back home than it was there. We have a pool, and we invited our neighbors and close friends to use it while we were gone. Great deterrent to burglary since there was always someone around. My neighbor had to put on the air conditioning for the cats and gerbils while we were away!

Loved your description and pictures from Canada Day. Fort Louisbourg is breathtaking. I work at a farm/manor house that is over 300 years old, so I appreciate hearing about the history.

I love the way your plans are coming together!!!

:woohoo: on booking your flights, :yay: on keeping your important ADR's and    on Free Dining and saving money!

So, I admitted over on my TR that although my DSLR accompanied me to Florida, I did not really use it! :duck:

I read over your instructions on the plane ride, but with the locker restrictions at US/IoA and the rain we had while at Disney, it was not worth it for me to have to worry about the camera.

Still no AC! Hahaa it's coming, just taking a little longer to install. The humidity lately has just been wicked, today is really nice though! Sunny with less humidity :) hope you're keeping cool!

Thanks so much for your positive energy! I hope to have good news to share in just over a week.

Our weather has been hotter and more humid than Florida too lately! Hahaha I'm glad you had a little cooler while you were in Orlando! And how nice of you to let the neighbours use your pool, good thought on the burglar deterrent!
I'm glad you enjoyed my little history detour! I don't usually enjoy much book history, but things like the fortress make it so interesting.
Hehe I can definitely understand not wanting to worry about your SLR. I sometimes leave mine in the room too ;)

Hello everybody!
Hope you are all having a wonderful summer! Can you believe it's August!? July flew by! Our weather has cooled down a little, but it feels like (and is forecast so,) it's going to be a really hot one today. But I don't mind because I have...

IMG_18101.jpg

the heat pump! (Also air conditioner!)

Johnny just finished installing it last night. We tried it out and man did it cool the room fast! We didn't have it on last night because the air was wonderfully fresh and cool, but it looks like I'm going to need it today!

I must admit my garden seems to like the weather. This is only our second year attempting to grow our own food and it's going pretty good! We have carrots (YUM! Nothing better than garden fresh carrots!) green beans:

IMG_18071.jpg

I have the beans in two huge containers on my deck as well as half the garden bed. I love green beans :)

Tomatoes:

IMG_18091.jpg

Two plants in the garden and one in a Topsy Turvy (remember those? The upside down tomato grower thing? It's not bad)

I also have some lettuce and strawberries. Oh, and basil, rosemary and oregano. Mmmmm!

During July and August, all the different towns around the Island have their festivals and celebrations. Recently Dominion had theirs. Dominion is a very small seaside/coal mining town, but they put on the best fireworks display outside of Disney. (They actually are the only place in all the maritime provinces to bring in a 10" shell firework! BOOM!) Their show was this past Sunday, so Johnny and I took the opportunity to practice for Disney fireworks (this will be Johnny's first trip with his new camera! Mine too for that matter...) I thought I'd share a few favourites:

August is shaping up to be a big month. On August 30th my best friend is getting married and I'm the MOH. Let's just say... it might cause me more stress than anything I've ever done. BUT check out my awesome wedding shoes:

IMG_17941.jpg

Kinda hard to tell from that pic, but they're seriously highlighter yellow. I love them.

Here they are from Google:

They're the most fabulous shoes I own. I'm not much of a shoe girl I admit.

In other news...

Have you heard?

FB-Free+Dining.png

Free Dining has been extended into November! Which means that even if we didn't have a pin, we would have had FD. But we still would have had to check in on the 11th so at least we didn't change our dates and drop Food & Wine for nothing!

tumblr_lr3jx5benU1qm6oc3o1_500.gif

And now to one issue that was driving me nuts for a long time. Flights!

With our old dates we were unable to find any flights that we liked at all. With our new dates we found some that weren't too bad. We just needed to save up the AirMiles to do it! We needed 4012 miles to get us there. Last week, this happened:

finally_enough.jpg

So we booked our flights!

booked_2airmilesleft.jpg

Here's our flight path:

Monday, November 11th -
9:20am depart Sydney
10:18 arrive in Halifax

11:45 depart Halifax
1:16 arrive in Toronto (1h. time difference there, it's a 2.5hr flight)

4:40 depart Toronto
7:31 arrive in Orlando

Not too bad, we don't have to leave home crazy early (usually we're at the airport at 4:45!) and we get to Orlando early-ish in the evening. (Better than midnight, which was our other option!) And with enough time in Toronto to get a decent meal without rushing.

On the way home our flights look like this:

Monday, November 18 -
1:05pm depart Orlando
3:58 arrive in Toronto

7:15 depart Toronto
10:17 arrive in Halifax (and back to our own time zone!)

11:15 depart Halifax
12:08 arrive in Sydney

Again, not too bad. Time to eat in Toronto, a late pickup in Orlando which allows us to have one last breakfast that morning.

Now that we have our flights, I can go ahead with the Day to Day plans again. I'm almost in the double digit countdown!

IMG_18121.jpg

Hopefully I'll get to another update before too long, unlike recently. But for now, have a great day everyone!

Photography 101

Alrighty, I'm wondering if there is anything specific anyone would like to learn? I don't have anything ready for today so let's call this a question period. :lmao: If you have any questions, ask away! If you have a technique you'd like to learn, please request it! If you're sick of hearing camera talk, you can tell me, I can take it.

Oh man that looks just like what we have on our server room at work. Yeah, I spend A LOT of time in there.

Wow, what gorgeous fireworks photos Wendy!

Congratulations on the airmiles flight. That's great news!
