Whats the best way to go about getting a discount?

I would like to stay onsite next June. Should I call AAA and see if there is a discount on the rooms if I go through them? I also see people on the board talking about promo codes? How do you get one for one of the onsite hotels?

Basically, I'm looking for anything that will knock the price down a bit.
