I need the help of all you Disney Cruise experts!!! We have booked our 1st ever Disney Cruise for June 5 and I have booked the Disney Cruise Line transfers from the airport to the port. We are doing the cruise first and then 5 nights at Pop Century. Party of 4 consists of myself and three boys (ages 14, 14 and 11). What's the most economical/best way to get from the port to Pop Century? We won't be needing a car those 5 days but if renting one just for the day to get to the "World" is the best or only option then I will. If a rental car is the best option which company is located at the port and also on Disney property so that I can return it. Also, did I read correctly that even if we didn't use the new "Magical Express" service upon arrival we can use it to return to the airport? We are flying Delta. I'm sorry for all the questions but us cruise newbies need all the help we can get!!! Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks so much!
Carla

We use the limo service (Tiffany and Southern Elegance) The best rental car is budget. We also decided to keep the car while at WDW. It made it easier and quicker to get to parks and DD. The parking is free on WDW when you stay on property. You will be amazed how much time you will save not waiting for the bus.

Thanks for your replies. It looks like renting a car would be the best option. I just checked Budget and the price was $40 for one day which isn't bad for the 4 of us. Any other suggestions would be welcome!!!

We did Pop Century, then the cruise, then back to Pop Century in March. After pricing all the options, we decided to rent a van.

We have plenty of teen DD's so we usually have to find an outlet mall while away! :D So we hit the Character Warehouse, etc. We ate off property a couple of times too.

BTW, we really enjoyed Pop Century! Hope you will too!

Hey Carla,
I just returned from WDW 4 weeks ago. I stayed at Pop Century and loved it. Others have mentioned that if you stay onsite that parking is free at all parks, this is true. I rented from National at MCO and it sure saved us alot of time not waiting for the bus. In fact we parked at EPCOT in the morning rode the Monorail over to WDW and late in the afternoon we returned to EPCOT for the evening since it is open later. When I parked at EPCOT most of the time I was only a few rows from the entrance. We left our jackets in the car and when we returned in the afternoon dropped off our packages and picked up our jackets for the evening. Worked great and could always walk back to our car.

I think that parking is free at the parks but there is a surcharge for resort parking unless you stay at one of the deluxe resorts. I had looked into staying at Port Orleans and I do believe that the parking charge was $6/night. This was in November.

We usually take a round trip on the Mears shuttle from airport to resort.

We have stayed at Pop Century and are staying again after our cruise in January. It is nice.

We have never had to pay a parking charge at any resort.
