What's the best (store) warranty for a Nintendo DS?

We're getting a DS lite for DD. She *definitely* needs some kind of extended warranty. We heard good things about the Game Stop warranty on used DS's, but the DS's they had were worse for wear. (DH frequents Game Stop so we checked a few times.) So, back to the drawing board, and we'd like to get her a new one. I read bad reviews on Target's warranty, same with Best Buy. I'm wondering about WalMart since they have the DS + $20 gift card deal right now.

Has anyone had good experiences with a DS warranty?

Oh, and has anyone seen the hot pink nerf armor? I can't find it anywhere!

We have had a very good experience with TrU warranty. They were very easy to deal with and usually quick.
I had 2 DS's replaced with them. One I sent back 4 times for repair and they called it a lemon, I got FULL replacement value for it, including the price of the Dogs game since it was a bundle price. They paid for shipping the units back and forth too! They also returned the DS!
The other one fell from a stadium about 3 wks before the warranty was up, it was in 2 pieces and again, they sent me the FULL replacement value for it.
I purchased the DSi as replacements and you bet I got the warranty again.

I know its not a store, but i love the warranties off of squaretrade.com (and my wallet likes their warranties, too)

A warranty for a ds lite bought at 129.99, for 3 years and including protection from Drops, Spills and other Accidental Damage is 23.99 after using code "santa" for 40 percent off.

i've never had to make a claim, but i have friends who have, and their super quick, and a breeze to deal with.

just a thought :thumbsup2

I purchased a Square Trade warranty for the PSP I got my son for Christmas for about that same price. Most warranties do not cover accidental damage, and that is one of my worries.

We have used ST for several warranties. Earlier this year, DS' guitar fell over and hit his laptop. The LCD screen was broken. ST was not able to fix it(it was a $300 EMachines laptop), so they Paypaled us the total purchase price. From the time I sent it off to them and when the money was in my bank account was about 10-12 days. We got a new one and the first thing I did was get another ST warranty.

Toys R Us warranty covers accidental damages, and i have used them!
DD had her DS about 4 months, when her little sister shoved a game in backwards. (and I don't know how, because I had to use needle nose pliers to pull it out again!) It bend the pins in the card slot, so it wouldn't read any games.
It was still under the manufacture's warranty, but Nintendo said it would cost $50 to fix, since it was an handling issue.
So i called the TRU warranty, and we had it back in a week.

OP- did the GameStop not have any new DS systems? We bought DS a DSi XL early in the fall from there with the full replacement warranty ($20 I think). The DSi XL quit working about 6 weeks later, we walked into the store with the original packaging & receipt and walked out with a brand new DSi XL- we did pay the $20 difference to upgrade to the Super Mario Bros. anniversary one.

We purchased the warranty on the replacement one as well! Best $20 I've ever spent. Super easy and no questions asked.

I can tell you that we had good luck with Best Buy as well. DS dropped his Ipod Touch in the wet grass and the water must have gotten in one of the ports. He was able to take it in and get a brand new one. It did take a lot of persuasion, b/c they had come out with a new one and the first person I spoke with did not understand that it didn't have to be replaced with the same one(which was pretty much obsolete) They had actually gone down in price, so they gave us a gift card with the difference:yay:

We use squaretrade.com, as well. They have a good reputation and the best prices around and it does cover accidental drops and spills. And like another pp mentioned, there's a 20% off code right now (SANTA).

Same here. We paid 17.99 for 15 months, it was replaced within 6.

I'm glad I haven't heard anything bad so far! :) I'm just going to go where the best deal is, we're looking for the pink one, so it's a little harder to find here. ::sigh:: (She's my only girl, I'm going to "pink" it up while I can!)

If it's somewhere without a good warranty, I'm definitely going to look into square trade!!

Thank you all soo much! :) Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Another vote for square trade. DSlite got damaged due to a drop. Sent it in, within the week they sent a check for the full value.
