Which resort has the best pool and is it available for DVC pool-hopping? Also, how is the pool at Grand Floridian? It looks great from the monorail!! Is it available to be "hopped"?

I'm a very new DVC owner but I'll give it a shot.

Best pool- Storm Along bay at the BCV by far. We just stayed at the YC and didn't think the pool would live up to all the hype but it exceeded it. The sand bottom, the cool slide, the river part, it was the best!! Pool hopping isn't allowed here at any time.

I've never stayed at the GF but we went and looked around. the pool is pretty nice, zero entry and waterfalls. I think DVC is allowed to pool hop here but I'm not 100% sure. I think the only 2 pools that you can't hop to are BCV and the pool at the AKL.

Hope my answers helped!

Who gets to use StormALong pool? Is it only BCV occupants? How about BWV or others? I am kicking myself. Had a chance to buy into BCV in June direct from DVC and didn't. Now I think its sold out.

Only those staying at BC/YC/BCV can use StormAlong Bay. I think that you might be able to buy at BCV direct from Disney. There is a waitlist for points that they have sent contracts out for that come back. Most that have gone on the waitlist have been saying that they have got their points in less than a week.

Just because you don't own at BCV doesn't mean you'll never stay there, so chin up, my friend! And there's still lots of great pools to be had...(SAB ain't the only cool pool in town, ya know...)

BWV pool is very cool... big, long Keister coaster slide.

VWL pool -- also great. Not so many "thrills" per se (has a peppy smaller slide); but what it lacks in thrills it makes up for in scenery -- that waterfall is awesome. I love swimming to the deep end where water fall meets pool. Cool pool... and nice hot tubs. ;)

Poly is nice too, as is GF. What the hey -- it's WDW! All the pools have something going for them in theme!

Main thing that would bar you from pool-hopping would be seasonal crowds. Therefore, your best policy --
call before you hop! :bounce:

(Similar to look before you leap, only DVC-style. :))

[sarcasm] What ever you do, stay far, far away from the pools at VWL/WL. They are really bad, and I am not sure who in their right mind would ever consider pool hopping there. [/sarcasm]

For what it's worth:
My 2 DS (4 and 6) think SAB is the absolute best.
They put the GF and BWV as 2nd and 3rd, often flipping which one is 2nd and which one is 3rd.
Have never been to VWL/WL pool. And after reading Maistre Gracey's post, I can guarantee that I won't go there on my next trip home. No way, wouldn't do it. At least not until the second day or so.
But, my guys also like the pools at the Port Orleans, too.
Basically, they are all pretty good. But, I am partial to SAB.

By popular acclaim, Stormalong Bay pool is the best from a standpoint that many people consider it a "mini waterpark". But no pool hopping there.

BWV pool is great. We like the Polynesian pool. And I understand that the Colorado Springs pool is very nice too.

I love VWL, but the main pool is not much of a thrill. It has outstanding theming, but not much action for the little ones. We like it that way, but frankly I don't know that it's worth pool hopping to.

Best pool is at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. DVC members do not have pool hopping privileges there. ;)

The new pool at the GF is very small and gets very crowded. My choice there is the quiet pool in the middle of the resort. It's huge and often not very crowded. No slide, but a very nice pool.

Outside of Stormalong Bay, I think the best pool on property is at Coronado Springs.

My favorite pool is SAB, I could sit on my little water noodle all day and just float around the one with the current.
My families favorite pools are the quiet pool at WLV and the quiet pool at BCV.
They love the WLV pool with the little waterjets and the fact that more people go to the big pool with the slide, and the quiet pool at BCV is so quiet because everyone is over at SAB.
I have been to Poly and GF pools and when they are moderately crowded they are too full. With the zero entry it seems to make the deeper areas much smaller and people crowd into that area. no room to really swim, you just stand in the water. NO FUN.
We liked all the pools at OKW, they are not big on fun factor but nice and quiet, except for the big pool near the main building.
I have never been to Coronado Springs pool, but that is on our list of to be checked out pools for our next trip. Peggie

Which resort has the best pool and is it available for DVC pool-hopping?
I'm not sure I understand why some posters are being misleading in their responses by telling you about Storm along Bay as the best pool to pool hop too. DVC members do not have the option to pool hop to SAB, and wrist bands are used to limit the swimmers to YC, BC and BCV guests. As a DVC member you can certainly use your points to stay at BCV at the 7 month window and enjoy the SAB pool area. But I don't think that is what you were asking in your question.

One of the two GF pools has a 0 entry, a nice slide, waterfalls and rock formations, water jets and looks out on the 7 seas lagoon. Look like a wonderful pool, only a monorail ride away. Don't know how crowded it gets.

On the monorail, I also hear the Poly pool is nice. Pictures of the resort pools are available at:

We haven't tried it yet, but it always seemed like taking a dip in a local DVC available pool during a hot park day, or visiting other pools on a non-park day would be a great way to use this DVC perk. I'm glad it's available, and hope it continues. Enjoy your swimming.

We generally find pool hopping a little inconvenient. You have to plan/prepare more, and you don't have your room to change in... Being a VWL and BWL owner, normally we just hop on down to the pool at the resort we're at!

Best pool to hop to? The resort you are at!

In your request you don't mention "best for ......." who? Adults, kids?

So, in order of my preference so far (I've been to 6). How sad my two fav pools are both off-limits!

1. SAB if you are staying at YC/BC/BCV as you can't pool hop there
2. AKL (but you can't pool hop there either How cool to get up out of the pool and watch the giraffe grazing.....)
3. Boardwalk
4. Coronado Springs
5. GF
6,
7.
8.
9.
10
11,
12. OKW main pool (gets my vote for most annoying)

We pool hop to at least one pool every trip.

And last trip we walked around the WL pool but we didn't go in because we heard somewhere that we shouldn't. ;)

In my opinion the best pool is the one at your resort where you can actually find a chair to sit in  and then swim with your family, without being crowded out by pool hoppers and locals who sneak in. The water will be clean, not cloudy from sunscreen (the "human soup" effect)

You will actually be able to keep track of your kids at this pool. There is minimal roughhousing and actually room to breathe.

Most often, these ideal pools are the Quiet Pools.

We take advantage of pool hopping every trip. We visit Disney often so I try to a few different things every vacation. We usually pool hop and combine a lunch at a resort, this year I made dinner reservations at Ohana's and the kids went for an evening swim. The Poly Resort atmosphere is really cool at night and the kids had a blast.

We prefer the monorail resorts. The shuttle boats and monorail provide a nice way to pool hop, visit restaurants and go shopping. We enjoy the slower pace vacation DVC allows so as long as the kids are smiling, it not an inconvenience to me.
