What's the best park on a rainy day?

Hi! We're heading to DW in 3 weeks and I was wondering what would be the best park to go to if we have a rainy day. I have 2 y/o twins, so rain could be a real bummer for us. Any thoughts?

(Sorry if there is already a thread somewhere on this...if there is, could you direct me there?).

Thanks!

I want to say MGM because it's alot of inside shows and stuff. That would be the park I would do on a rainy day.

I'd have to agree with MGM or MK. At MGM there is the Little Mermaid show, and Bear close by, and at MK, all of Fantasyland is a short distance with a lot of rides close to each other. Both parks have covered waiting areas for the attractions. I guess MK would be the most to do in the least walk (once you get to Fantasyland that is!).
Rain or shine, WDW is a fun place to be! Enjoy!

I would say any park except for Epcot!!! We did Epcot on our only rainy day cause we had to stick to the itinerary  and let me tell you, that is a lot of walking outside in the rain :umbrella:.

We had a full day of rain on our Dec. trip and we spent that day at AK. It was great! We wore baseball caps and ponchos to try to keep dry.

On the safari ride, we saw more animals than we've ever seen!

There were no lines for any of the rides!

We went to Rafiki's Planet Watch and our kids had Stanley and Rafiki to themselves for a while!

We got DS4 to finally try Kali River Rapids since he was wearing a poncho and we were already wet. He ended up loving it and we were allowed to stay on and ride again when our first ride was over.

We had a rainy day last May and we chose to go to MGM because there are quite a few indoor attractions.

We spent our rainy day in MGM. All the indoor shows and the relatively short walking distances between buildings made it tolerable. There are quite a few overhangs and we cut through many of the shops to get to attractions. We had a great time!

Have fun!

Actually, I'll be the contrarian and state that Epcot is probably the best choice on a rainy day. Why? Easily has the largest number of completely indoor attractions!!!!

I would say, on a rainy day, definately DONT head for DTD!! Its complete pandemonium on a rainy day and the shops (especially the huge Disney Store) are so crowded that they are unbearable, even for a shopoholic like me!!

Epcot we could send hours in one building of furture world. The land or living sea comes to mind. MK is a good choice also.

We've navigated MGM fairly well in the rain. And the reverse is true.. It rains on us every time we go to MGM (2 out of 3 Fantasmic washouts). :confused3

EPCOT was our choice too, only because even though you have to walk farther to places, more things are inside. Although if you have little ones, MGM might be your best bet. DTD is CRAZY, but if it is only adults in your party and they don't mind the crowds, it's doable. We've done DTD on two rainy days and got our shopping done.

I would pick EPCOT because there are a lot of things for a kid to actually DO there. You could start with Spaceship Earth and then go into Innoventions and do all the stuff most people skip. There are fun games and activities in there. After you do both sides of Innoventions you could go to the Living Seas and look around and after that make a run for the Land...eat lunch and do the activities in there...Soarin, Living with the Land, The Behind the Seeds tour, the lion king movie. THEN you can make a dash for Imagination...ride the ride and do the fun stuff there. Let the kids do the Kidcot Funstops. I never paid attention before but apparently a lot of people don't send their kids over. If you actually do everything this will easily take hours.

MGM would be my second choice because the rides/shows are undercover with big queue areas. Other than RocknRollerCoaster and the Tower of Terror (which you wouldn't be doing anyway) the ride/show times are fairly long...again giving you time to dry off.

I'd be inclined to avoid MK because the number of times you'll be transitioning from building to building would be fairly high. And AK is substantially outside (including the animal exhibits) so I'd only pick it if the day is an on and off rainy kind of day.

We head to the MK, hopeing to see the Rainy Day Character Cavalcade. It is a shortened version of the daytime parade. It is cute and fun.

It has rained on us pretty much at all of the parks from time to time. With light rain, it is a non-event with ponchos or rain gear (which we bring at all times) and any park will do. I see a lot of responses with MGM, which was the last park we experienced rain at. It had started to rain at LMA, and had rained so hard that they stopped the stunt show after two temporary stops and called it quits. They didn't allow us to take shelter in the covered bleachers but rather asked everyone to leave the stadium in the downpour. Even though I had the rainfly on our McLaren stroller in the stroller parking area, there was a big puddle of water in the seat by the time we got to it. That day I realized that even though many of MGM's attractions has their queue under cover, it really is not hands down the best in a down pour as they all require a lot of walking in the rain from attraction to attraction. When the rain is coming down sideways, it is time to raise the white flag. Generally, with the common afternoon showers, we hide out under cover or head back to the hotel before it let's lose until it blows over. When we go back to the parks, they are usually empty. :cool1:

On days that show no signs of letting up, give DQ some consideration.

Go wherever you were planning on going. All parks have pros and cons about rainy touring. We typically head for Epcot or MK.. Epcot because of the pavilions with multiple rides/shows inside. MK because most people go to Epcot or MGM when it rains. Bottom line is that rain stinks at WDW - make the best of it by riding Dumbo in the rain - it may turn out to be the best memory from your trip.
