What's the best luggage?

My luggage is really old, and I'm looking to replace it. I am looking for some opinions. I love the disney luggage, I'm just not sure about the price or quality. Also I've been researching and I'm interested in hearing people's opinions on the spinners. I've read some great and not so great opinions about these, but since our primary travels our to Disney for now, I'd like a WDW travellers opinion of the spinner bags. We are a family of 4 traveling with an infant and child age 6. What's the best luggage for a Disney, and why?
Thanks for you help in advance,
Kim :)

I had the Samsonite spinners and gave them to my husband, lol. Although they are nice to pull they are heavy to lift and the mechanism takes up a lot of the space within the luggage.

I bought Tumi for myself 2 years ago and am very happy with it. It's not budget friendly though so I won't elaborate.

Many people seem to really like the rolling duffels. I see a lot of them at the airports.

The next new piece of luggage I'll buy will be a rolling duffel, simply because it's very easy for me to go over the weight allowance with my suitcase. On some trips I've managed to pack for myself and my daughter in one large suitcase coming close to the weight limits (during summer, no way can we do it in winter!). It makes it easier not to have one more thing to drag into the airport.

I have the Ricardo brand from Kohls and have been pretty happy with it. Made several trips over the last year and a half and has held up pretty well. Bought with a 30% off coupon when they were offering Kohls Cash.

So happy that this year for Christmas we will be able to drive instead of fly! Lugging three suitcases, the car seat, carryons, diaper bag, ugh! It was work! LOL

I got the Heys Disney luggage (picture below). It seems sturdy and great in size. :)

We drive down, so I guess I may not be any help if you fly, but I have a couple of the large duffle bags from Vera Bradley and they hold an incredibly large amount of stuff and are very easy to carry. I can stuff them pretty full and they have held up really well.

I'm looking for the Heys collection. I'd like to see them in person before purchasing, I don't know where they're carried in store. We like the silver Mickey Minnie and Donald collection. Do the wheels take a lot of space inside the bag as with the Samsonite spinners?

OP, I've heard good things about Delsey luggage...lightweight, durable and you can frequently find it on sale.

I've had my Tumi for almost 14 years, and it's in amazing shape. I paid $600+ for it back then - a similar bag today is in the $1,000 range. But I used to travel frequently for business, so it was worth the investment...not sure that I'd spring for such an expensive bag now that my travels are limited to once or twice a year.

I :lovestruc this bag! I've had it in my cart at ShoeBuy.com for 3 days now, but haven't been able to commit, LOL. I don't really need it...I just WANT it!

I'm just afraid that it will get all scratched up in transit. Have you traveled with it yet?

I travel quite frequently for both work and pleasure and my main suitcase pieces I use are TravelPro brand. This is the brand that is very popular among airline employees (I used to work for an airline). The pieces have held up very well and I've had two of them repaired a couple of times for minor things but they were covered by warranty. Their Platinum line is awesome but more costly (but all repairs are free for life) and I've also had their Crew5 series and 6 series pieces (I think they are up to #8 now). I bought my pieces from a retailer that discounts for airline employees, but you can sometimes find them at TJMaxx or Marshalls. Macy's also carries their line and so does eBags.com.

I also own a few Tumi pieces and they are the best but not budget minded. Though, they are guaranteed for life and they'll fix anything for free. They also have a registration # for each piece that is a unique # so if it's ever lost/found they can easily track it back to the owner.

Not all. I snapped this pic for you.

Do it, you won't regret it. It's more beautiful in person.:love:

I definitely recommend LLBean's luggage. They have many types and sizes. If you watch the sale area of their website you can get a good deal sometimes. Their products are guaranteed - so even if you don't like it after a couple years or the product fails, you can either get your money back or get a store credit. They have free shipping too.

We bought Eddie Bauer rolling duffels for our family.... and they have been used and abused ever since.... holding up very well. They are light and very durable. They do have them on sale from time to time as well. We looked very closely at LLBean, Lands' End and EB before deciding what to buy.

Good luck!

I have a few pieces of Tumi and love it. I have had a some of it for years and it still looks like new. Sometimes you can find it at Nordstrom Rack for a good price or if you live near a Tumi outlet they have sales sometimes. As a few have said before it is not easy on the budget. It is worth every cent.

Tumi has great customer service I once messed up my Tumi backpack(melted part of it) sent it back to them I was going to pay to get it fixed. They couldn't fix it so they mailed me a gift card equal to the cost of a new bag.

If you want to look at Heys luggage, check it out at Sears. I wouldn't recomend buying it there, but look at it, the size, quality, etc. I bought mine at
http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/

I got the 3 piece set for what Sears was charging for 1 piece.

I used it for our last trip, and it stood up well- no scratches, but it needed to be cleaned . It seemed to have rubber marks from the plane.

We have a Ricardo suitcase that's a great size but the wheel broke after just a few trips. It still rolls, but one wheel is missing a chunk. I wrote to the company and they said they can send a replacement if I send them a model number. Haven't had a chance to do that yet.

I have a smaller spinner suitcase from Walmart, "Jeep" brand. It's perfect for my needs but I haven't yet flown with it. It was $25 and came with a backpack, duffle, and toiletry bag, so it was "cheap" luggage. It's the right size for a week away, and can expand 2" as well. I like the spinners so far, but I've only used it for trips to summer camp where I volunteer, not for any major traveling. It held up well on the camp boardwalk, though, and rolled nicely through my cabin at camp!

That said, if I were looking for new luggage, I'd get an LL Bean rolling duffle. They're so durable and lightweight. We have a "Forecast" brand rolling duffle we fly with because it's lighter than all our suitcases. It was a wedding gift 9 years ago (purchased at Sears). It's held up pretty well on several flights and several road trips. What I dislike about a duffle is that they're sometimes tough to "live out of," like on a road trip or at summer camp. You have to paw through them to find what you need. But for tons of packing room, they can't be beat.

My dd15 and I just got back last week from a 2 week trip to Ireland and Germany...we both had brand new LL Bean rolling duffels...we picked them up at an outlet near us here in Massachusetts. They were great for our trip and held lots of stuff and even when packed fully ...they were still under our wt. limit for the airlines.
Also, the brightly colored bags were great since we knew right away which ones were our coming off of the luggage claims carousel. Plus they have a lifetime guarantee.

I have Samsonite spinners I love but they're heavy. I also got a Delsey carry-on at Kohls and have been very happy with that.

My IL's just visited and they had Kipling luggage. I was surprised by how light and durable it seemed. It was much lighter than both my Delsey and Samsonite. Apparently, Kipling is very popular in Europe and the Middle East. Ebags sells it, if you want to check out the reviews.

I love my Heys Exotic spinners. I have the 21" and 25" in the plaid pattern. Here's a picture, but I didn't spend near that much. I bought them individually at Marshalls for like $69.00 for the 21" carry on and $79.00 for the 25":

I also have a large LLBean duffel in a bright kelley lime green that has my last name monogrammed on the side, that I use sometimes. They don't seem to have the same color anymore, but it's this bag:
