What's so great about O'Hana's?

I see that a lot of people are interested in O'Hana's menu changes and that it's a favorite restaurant for ADR's. Now I'm wondering if I should book it. Besides the good food, what makes this a special restaurant? I've read it had good atmosphere...what does that mean? Is there a mini-show? Is it recommended over the Polynesian Luau show?

The Poly Luau generally is not well recieved... Ohana' is half the price..The food is excellent and all you can eat..Inside the restaurant, you really do get the feeling that you are somewhere else...Also when I heard that it was sticks of meat,I was assuming these would be thin sticks of teriyaki, like you so often see..It's not these are big thick chunks of steak meat..I've been there twice and it's now my first day tradition

I am one of the people who love 'Ohana and I will keep going back even with slight menu changes. 'Ohana is a different dining experience. It's really a family atmosphere. There is no show per se, but they do have entertainment for the kids. They have a coconut race where the kids race around the restaurant batting coconuts with brooms (watch your ankles!) and hula-hoop contests. It gives the kids something to do during dinner. The food is really good. The appetizers are brought in a circular tray that spins and you share all the wonderful food. Then, a server comes with skewers of meat (steak, pork, turkey and shrimp) and you can have as much as you like. Everyone is your "cousin" at 'Ohana. If you time it right, you can see Wishes from the restaurant too. They dim the lights and play the music. It really is a great place to dine.

As for the Spirit of Aloha, that is a dinner show. It's a little expensive but I have heard the show is worth it. We'll wait until dd is a little older so at least I know she'll eat something and join in the show.

2 words...CILANTRO WINGS!!! I love them sooo much...as well as the dumplings, the shrimp and that delicious pineapple and caramel. We also like the atmosphere. Like others have said, "you feel like you are somewhere else." A woman plays music and gives hula lessons...and the coconut races are fun for the kids!

I am so excited I will be at Ohanas for the first time in three nights for my birthday!!

We ate there in Jan. (on the dining plan) and we didn't like it. The starters were good, the skewers were not. The waiter was just okay. The 3 of us sat alone at a table for 8. The games, well there was only 1 and we didn't get to the start in time to really be in it-we did it any way but my DD5 was disappointed. We won't go again-give me Kona's anytime! One of the best meals in the World!!!!

24 days and counting! :grouphug:
