We're going Oct. 2. Tell me what we should not miss . First time for us. We have AR at LTT I think at 6:00 and will be with our two DD's 10 and 12. Anything they shouldn't miss?

We went last year with a family group of 16, both my parents and inlaw's as well as 2 sisters and assorted cousins. We all dressed up as pirates pirates pirate: and rode to MK on the boat from the GF. We had the best time watching the story teller in Adventureland and the Headless Horsemans Ride just before the parade is not to be missed. The parade itself is great, I think its better to see it further into the park, not on main street because it is darker and more holloween feeling. Just the people watching is worth the price of admission. Wear a costume and get into the spirit of the night!

The whole night!!!LOL Headless Horseman, the Witch flying from the castle to start the fire works, all the characters dressed up...............there really is too much to fit into 5 hours!!
SD :paw:

The "trick or treat" candy stops & the family photo!!! Dressing up, the parade, the fireworks... The decorations....I like everything...just wish it wasn't as crowed as it is. Years ago, you could count on very low crowds. Once my daughter was the only one on the Astro Orbitor that she stayed on by herself & the CM just kept running it for her... (years ago)

I'm enjoying reading what everyone has said so far. This year is our first MNSSHP and I am so excited! We are 6 adults and 2 kids (my 6 year old nephew and my 2.5 year old niece).

The greatest thing is the lack of lines. We are going 9/30/05.
We went last year on the first night and everyhting was a walk-on or no line at all.

We liked the parade when the headless horseman comes riding by. The kids liked trick or treating in the MK.

We're going that night too! Glad to hear that it's usually not crowded I was a little worried because it's on a Friday.

I love this thread - I get to go to my first MNSSHP this year, and can't wait.

I have a question for you experts: If I am not arriving at the party until like 7:30 (unavoidable ADR problem, and there are other family members who aren't going to be considered...Long Story), is it best to get pictures right away, or wait until later in the evening? I kind of picture, like at prom, everyone going straight to photo locations, and that maybe during the early parade would be a good time for photos? Is there any particular photo location that tends to be less busy?

Thanks much!! :maleficen

I love riding the Haunted Mansion during MNSSHP and the spooky, eerie lights and pumpkins they put all over the park!! I can't wait!!!

There is a great thread that is now a "Sticky" at the top of this forum. Baloo compiled quite a bit of information about MNSSHP. I've printed out several pages and have them ready to go.

Leaving 3 weeks from today  and doing MNSSHP on 9/30. See you all there.

Me too!!! When you ride it this year, listen at the end to the woman in the blue dress. Last time I was there & rode it on a MNSSHP, she had no voice. She was moving, but her voice wasn't there...it was being piped thru the park.... I can't wait to see if it is that way again...she is my favorit part of the ride "hurry baaaack & don't forget to bring your death certificate"

We'll be there on Oct 2nd as well.

Definitely recommend dressing up. The cast members also enjoy seeing people dress up. We love the parade, headless horseman, witch starting the fireworks, candy, lighting, and giant pumpkins marking the treat area. However, our favorite parts are the music (still trying to find a CD with this on it) and seeing everyone in costume.

Also, HM is a must. Fits right in with the night. The CMs there played up the part and scared my wife.

We have heard the steamboat is supposed to be very good that night, but we have never done this.

Oh, don't forget to see Cinderella's coach behind the castle. Makes for a great photo opportunity.

For me getting my face painted is tops. And I love the dancing butlers in the Halloween parade. I can't believe this is the first MNSSHP in three years I'm missing!

Does anyone have any pictures from a past MNSSHP?? This will be mine and my DH first MNSSHP.

Quick question- the free pictures that they take is there a special spot you have to go too??

Thanks for any info. i am trying to convince my DH we should get dressed up but he is being a fuddy duddy.

We had a great time last year! I have a picture of my family on my desk, all dressed up as pirates. It was so much fun to come out of our resort to drive over to MK, with everyone looking and smiling and interested in our costumes! I think the best part of MNSSHP is the fun of being an adult trick or treating - how often in our own lives do we get to dress up and act like someone else?

I do have to add, though, that it gets REALLY dark in the park, and I would think that it would be a LITTLE scarey for some of the younger set. But we had a ball, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, as long as Fitzkerry and Poohlvr came with me!

I would also love to see pictures! I'm SO jealous of all of you going! I think we'll be going next year for the first Halloween trip! I'm reading mixed reviews of the crowds. Any other opinions on the crowd level?

Also: what is the best website to check for info. on the MNSSHP? All ears didn't have much last I checked. Thank you all and have fun for me! ::MickeyMo :scared1:

I also like the way the park and all the attractions (especially the HM) are lit differently and there is Halloween music playing throughout the park.

We are going 9/30/05 and I will post pix and scan the brochure and the map and post them to an online album (like I did last year) on 10/1/05.

My faves:

1) short or no lines for rides
2) trick or treating
3) the lighting of the park, especially along Main Street
4) the parade
5) the parade
6) family picture
7) the parade (get the picture?)
8) getting pictures with characters dressed up for Halloween
9) seeing all the great costumes on park guests
