What's So Bad About Captain Jacks?

I have seen very few good reviews on Captain Jacks. Is it really that terrible? I want to use my dining plan there. Just hoping for the best. Oh BTW, can we order the lobster on their menu? It appears to be an entree.

I've only eaten at Cap't Jacks once (Lunch last November), and found it to be quite pleasant and the food was very good. This is a LINK to dining reviews from our November trip.

We have eaten at Cap'n Jack's 3 times and enjoyed it a lot. We are planning to eat here in October on our PI night. I think, like all reviews, it is all in your expectations and likes. Cap'n Jack's menu is fairly limited and it certainly isn't a Fine Dinner like V &A's or Yachtsman Steakhouse. If you go near sunset, the views from the Main room are incredible.
As I said, we are looking forward to going back.
Enjoy whatever you decide.!

We ate there once and we all liked it. We were a party of 8 so that is saying something.

Well, our meal was terrible, and I mean, the pits - no redemption. Slovenly presentation, indifferently cooked :scared1: . I'll give most restaurants a second chance but not Capt Jack's, unless it's for lunch (as the previous posters suggested) and stick with appetizers.

Plus, the fact that they don't accept PS' makes it a most inconvenient dining spot on Saturday nights, which is when the locals hit PI and DTD and waits of upwards of an hour are not uncommon.

My advice? Order simpler items over drinks. Stay away from items requiring more time or are beyond the kitchen's ability - like lobster.

I can say about Cap'n Jack's is it has a great view.Plus I hope you have a great meal if you decide to eat there. :goodvibes :) :flower: :earsboy:

We've eaten there twice. Once was long ago 95 or 97 and it had a character meal. A second time for lunch. It was just okay both times. We've attempted to eat there twice since. We've been ignored, literally ignored by the greet staff in the late afternoon. Walk in, greet them, tell them we have two to be seated. Then nothing. Conversation with another staffer about who's called whom. Not in a 'where can I seat them' way, but in a social 'oh, did you hear' way. Not a word to us about how it could be a couple of minutes, no additional acknowledgement of our presence near the chair/bench. We'd disappeared.

The last time we walked out vowing never to return. Ever.

Capt Jacks was a seafood restaurant back in the mid to late 90's. Chef Mickey's was the character meal, and was located next door, where the Rainforest Cafe is today--- very easily confused with Capt Jacks, as the building no longer exists. When Fulton's opened, Capt Jacks changed the menu to American, with less emphasis on seafood. It is a shame, because seafood is what they did best.

We liked Capt Jacks much better when it was strictly seafood and you could get steamers at the bar. Now, we only eat lunch there. The wait for dinner is far too long, and they don't accept priority seating.

Thanks eeyore. It did seem different. I'm corrected, I've only managed to eat there once.

I am happy that other people had good meals here but like the quote above my family had a really bad experience. :crazy2: Please keep in mind that my husband is a human garbage disposal and even he could not finish his food. Maybe we hit a bad night but it was so bad that we are too scared to give it another try. :scared:
