What's Santa Bringing Your Kids?

op you said both your 9 10 year old kids are getting laptops! What a waste of money. :sad2:

I am confused! :confused3 Why is it a waste of money? DD8 and DD6 have had laptops for the last 3 years and they can operate computers better than most adults. They use the educational websites to learn math, geography and sciences and both are doing very well in school. Off course we have filters and other blockers.

OP - I know you're not looking for pats on the back but I wanted to say I think your doing extremely well (with your DH being laid off) - don't compare to what you've done in years past, it won't matter to your children

Santa will be bringing DS (almost 5):
Playmobil Skull Pirate Ship
Roboraptor (still don't know why I caved and bought that)
Fireman Dress up set
Hot Wheels race track & extra cars
A game table that changes to allow play for 7 different games

DD(3) will get:
a Little Tikes Side-by-Side Kitchen
Little Pet Shop game
Princess Tea Set
Light up tail Ariel
Prince Eric
Dolphin Chariot (for the dolls)

Joint - Cinderella's Castle playset from WDW (they've been asking for it for forever)

We keep stocking stuffers small & simple: toothbrushes, stickers etc.

they also have 9 aunts, 6 uncles and a grandma that they receive gifts from (good thing I talked my DH into buying a house with a finished basement!)

Mom & Dad only give each child a pair of pj's on Christmas Eve

My DS's birthday is 6 days before Christmas so the poor thing gets gifts all December and nothing else (big) in between

A trip to WDW and what ever keep sakes we buy while we're there. Made shopping easy this year :thumbsup2

Hey that would be the same present my children are getting next year. I am not even finished with this year yet (except for DS10, he is getting a PSP and 7 games), but i am half way done with paying for next Christmas.

Santa will be bringing..............
DS6
Ipod Shuffle (refurbished)
$15 iTunes card
2 gameboy games
clothes

DS10
Need for Speed Carbon
Clothes

DS10 is already getting a PSP & 6 games from me
so Santa is taking it a little easy on his presents.

A pony! Actually, it's the Furreal Friends Butterscotch Pony - it's as close to a real pony as my DD's will get. They are also getting a bunch of new Nintendo DS games, some Littlest Pet Shoppe toys, new blankets for their beds, the Disney DVD game, POTC DVD's (both 1 and 2), Cars DVD, and a trip to WDW.

When all done, I'll have only spent $550 for both kids!! I don't think that too shabby!!

Not too shabby? My almost 10 yo hasn't had that much spent on his Xmas gifts in his lifetime!

You're telling us that you are spending $275 for a 3 yo's Xmas and you think you got off cheap? Yikes!

DD5 is getting from Santa:
Pink DS Lite
DS Lite accessorty kit
3 DS games

From me:
A trip to Disney in Dec :)
Kids cookie making kit from Pampered Chef
Christmas Eve PJs

We're simple around here.

Well being laid off end of August we are really keeping things light this year. My DH & I have tried the "no presents for us" but DD (only child 13) gets very upset with that. So we are trying to eek out a few cheapies.

So luckily had DD pick out some clothes from HotTopic in August when they had the 70% Back to School sale - she probably will forget about these 5 items by Christmas. :rotfl:
Then DH won an ipod Nano at work!! (thank you so much God!!) DD wanted this last year but we could only afford the shuffle (on sale) so she will be very surprised. :cheer2:
From JCPenney outlet in Sept got the ipod boombox/alarm/dock for it at %60 off (along with winter coat & snowboots which she needed now).
Have a couple of $15 itune cards I got free with purchases early in year. :thumbsup2

Applied for the Disney Visa to put deposit on our WDW May trip at 0% and just used this to get the 25% off a few Disney gifts (plus we will get $50 Disney gift card which I will put in DD's stocking for WDW souvenirs):
POC pajamas for DD & DH
NBC skull cap for DD
Disney beach towel
(for the waterparks)
Sweatshirts & Mickey ornament set for all of us
Clip on headphones (for me when I get her hand me down shuffle)

DD has been begging for a cell phone so since I plan to re-activate the 2 Nokias I have for WDW trip, I may do this before Christmas & put in her stocking.

We're trying to put aside $20 a week so we can let DD shop before Christmas: She traditionally helps DH choose earrings to give me, and a PS2 game for DH from both of us. But $$ keeps getting gobbled up by bills.

Would love to get DS lites for DD & DH but need some divine intervention for that.
No one is expecting much while saving for May trip so we will be happy with what we have. :teeth:

tchrxx -- I have seen High School Musical t-shirts at Macy's in the children's department (if there is one near you).

Santa is bringing tickets to Disney World and Universal Studios for Christmas.

Is there specific Disney autograph books somewhere that I could pick up? Disney store?

I found them on Ebay when I was looking. I couldn't find anything really Disney when I looked around here at stores. I ended up getting books from walmart in the craft section that had thick almost cardboard type paper for autograph books (you can decorate them with stickers & such if your crafty) - the ones they sell in WDW - make sure only to autograph 1 side because the paper is thin and it bleeds through to the other side if you try to get back & front.

A surprise trip to WDW in 2 1/2 weeks!!!

I am trying to keep costs down this year - I budgeted $150 each for my kids, and that will cover St. Nick, Christmas from us, and Santa. I think on Christmas morning we'll watch our videos from the upcoming trip so we can remember what a great family trip we had and what a gift it was for all of us.

Santa only brings one gift for each child - we try to deemphasize the Santa-thing in our house and focus on the Jesus-thing at Christmas, giving gifts to each other instead. In our family we have a tradition that we exchange names - in addition to buying whatever gift we might buy, we also have to MAKE a gift for that person. Those handmade gifts are what we remember year after year, long after the latest CD or gift card is forgotten. I will forever cherish the ornament that my Dad made me. And DH learned how to make some yummy candy-coated almonds that he gave my mom one year. Didn't know he had that talent!!

Yesterday I ordered some beaded bracelet kits from Oriental Trading that DD6 is going to put together to give to her friends, teachers and cousins. Also some cards that kids color and decorate themselves. She is very excited this year to make, wrap and give her own gifts, and altogether it cost less than $15 (which she gave me from saving her allowance - I didn't ask for it, she wanted to buy it herself!!!).

I think it's funny that some people are already stressed out that they're not done yet when it's NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING!!!!!

We are giving our DS (19 mos.)
-Thomas the Train figure 8 set and 2 additional trains and Harold the Helicopter.
-a blow up beach ball
-an old fashioned lunchbox in the shape of a train
- a pinwheel
-3 books
-We are going to WDW in 2 weeks and I am sure that we will find some other stuff.

Santa is bringing a sand box.

My family will be giving him a Fisher Price car ramp/garage and little people nativity characters and the red car from the Cars movie. (He hasn't seen the movie, he just loves transportation, cars, trains, monorail.)

We are doing the same thing.

I totally agree about the shopping part... in fact this year we are not even going to go to Walmart to hit the Blitz sales at 5AM.

We are giving the older kid a few $$$ for spending on items of their choice.

DD2 1/2 is getting from Santa:

A Trike
A Dress Up Adventure Dora w/armoire, bed, and a couple of outfit (providing I find it all at K-Mart tomorrow and Friday for cheap)
A Cookie Monster from Build-A-Bear

Stocking (I haven't decided if that's from Santa or not)
Mini See-N-Say
Mini Doodle Pro
PEZ dispenser w/ PEZ (she loves those things)
Little tube of mini-M&Ms
some small Ty Jingle Beanies (my mom got her the little ones for Halloween and she loved them so I found the Christmas ones)
A couple of small books
New colored pencils

From Mommy and Daddy

A baby doll
A Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (I can't believe I actually found one)
some Thomas wooden train cars
three mini penguins from Happy Feet from Build-A-Bear
A My First Leap Pad with some of the books.

My inlaws got her a Schoenhut toy piano and my parents got her a train table from Costco.

I'm working on two projects for DD, one is a dress up chest and the other is a little tikes playhouse that I got from someone on freecycle, I just had to purchase hardware from Little Tikes and a new threshold. I'm hoping to get it painted in time for Christmas but if not I'll get it done later.

Mine are getting their first trip to WDW, Dec 15-22! I have bought a slew of stuff for them for the trip that they don't know about: clothes, hair accessories, Leapster cartridges for the plane, books, etc. Lots of suprises that week!

When we get back on actual Christmas things will be light.

DD9
Scrapbook and supplies to make her own vacation scrapbook
GBA Dogs game
Children's Dictionary

DD7
Rescue Pet Dog
Children's cookbook
Scrapbook and supplies to make her own vacation scrapbook

Their first trip to WDW. We got them each a stuffed Mickey Mouse to open on Christmas morning as their last gift to tell them we are going to Disney.

My 5yr old ds will also get a Doodle Monster from his little brother. I got him a couple of Ben 10 characters from us and his brother also.

My 18mo old ds loves Curious George so my 5yr old will be getting a stuffed George to give to him. I don't really know what else as he plays with everything of his big brother's.

I'm not sure what Santa will bring them yet. Probably the Mega Fort by Cranium for my oldest and still unsure for the 18mo. Or a joint gift of the new Step 2 train table.
