OK -- yesterday I was able to remember our day-by-day itinerary for our upcoming 9-day December trip, including all ADRs, as DH and DS and I sat and chatted about it while we were out to lunch celebrating DH's birthday. BUT, I could not for the life of me remember what's supposed to be replacing Sounds Dangerous and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire -- can you help me?

Also, I do remember that Monsters Inc is replacing Timekeeper, but has anyone seen an estimated opening date for that? Thanks!

I thought the replacement for Millionaire was Midway mania, but I'm not 100% positive. I didn't even know sounds dangerous was leaving. I hope it's something good.

Hmmm -- I really didn't think I was making it up! I feel certain that I'd read (here, even) that these two attractions were being replaced, and my memory is usually pretty good....

There is no accouncement that Sounds Dangerous is closing.

Yes, Sounds Dangerous is not closing anytime soon. And yes, Midway Mania will be replacing Millionaire....I hope they come up with a better name. Regular guests have no clue what the heck Midway Mania means ;)

OK -- I found where I'd read it:
____________
8 November 2005: Indy to stay, and something new in place of the ABC Theatre?

It seems that the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is here to stay for a good while longer. Plans to replace this long running show with a major $100 million + Eride are rumored to have been canned for now. Attention now has moved to demolishing the ABC Theatre, and the Sounds Dangerous show, and installing a new ride through attraction in that location. The timeframe for this is said to be within the next 4 years.
____________

This was from the wdwmagic site -- but 4 years out is, of course, WAAAY too long a window to cause any commotion now (so, my apologies!).

And here's what the same source said about Midway mania:
7 June 2006: Midway Mania coming to the studio soundstages?

The last few months have seen a lot of speculation regarding a new attraction, called Midway Mania, to be placed in the studio's soundstages. The huge soundstage buildings, including the Who Wants to be a Millionaire attraction, are speculated to become home to a new interactive dark ride, featuring a computer generated 3D environment, and moving vehicles, allowing riders to shoot at the environment. In short, the project is being pitched as a Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin - "The next generation".

Storylines for the attraction have been previously talked about as focused around Mickey's Milestones, but more recently, this has swung towards being based around Pixar characters, and in particular, the Toy Story characters. Each show scene would be hosted by a particular character from the Toy Story movies, complete with their own mission brief for the scene.

The time frame being talked about is to have the attraction up and running within the next 4 years.

I believe it when its announced and the cranes roll in.

:goodvibes

Whatever, closes, I just hope they won't replace it with another blasted Pixar attraction. I have had enough Toy Story this, and Incredibles that. I hope they do a Mickey one.

I'm SO with you on that -- the Pixar movies are great, and of course now we've got the whole Jobs connection (which I also think is great for Disney), but they are erring on "too much of a good thing" and by the time the attractions and all are rolling, the movie has been out for so long that it really feels passe.

I also take Robo's point -- as Yogi B. would say, "I'll believe it when I believe it," :lmao: but I think these rumors do make some sense. We'll all hope for the best!

I guess you'll be even less impressed when the Incredibles come to MK ....

shhhh ... wait for it, wait for it ... :thumbsup2

Toy Stor and Monsters Inc. are the new "classics" and my kids adore them, but I agree that they need to do more of the original classics. (Just my opinion)
