Whats On Your Photography Bucket List?

On one of the photography blogs I read they talked about a "photo bucket list". It wasn't so much about once in a lifetime things/places you want to photo (e.g. running of the bulls or african safari). But those types of shots you want to work at to achieve for whatever reason; to develope a new skill or just prove to yourself that you can do it, no matter how over-done or cliche they may be. Some of the ones she listed were; sunset at a beach, long-exposure waterfall, group jumping shot, a lone tree in a field, etc).

I think its a good idea to have a list like this if for no other reason than to give yourself a photographic goal of some skill you want to achieve.

So I'm curious what are those "iconic" shots that are on your "Photography Bucket List"? I'll start with a few of mine:

1) I'd really like to get more into wildlife photography and I'd like that shot of an eagle swooping down and grabbing a fish out of the river.

2) I want a great header shot durring a soccer game.

3) Like the blogger, I want a good long-exposure waterfall shot.

4) Living near chicago now, I want a good night time Chicago skyline.

5) Trying to get into off-camera flash, I want a basic portrait of each of my three kids so we don't have to put that awful 'school photo' on the wall. It never fails, each year we have at least one kid with something going on in their photo.

6) One of these years I want to finally get some good fireworks shots

7) Enter a photo in the photo contest in our local County Fair.

Right now, it's just trial and error, but I want to try to get good at taking these kinds of photos:

Oh....I just got a new "real" camera and I want all of the above. But my goal for next trip is fireworks. I think I need a tripod.

Wide angle HDRs from the top of Halfdome;

Night flash photos of a local steam train, like O Winston Link;

Victoria Falls (not gonna' happen);

Monterrey Historic races at Laguna Seca;

Yosemite National Park in snow;

Linville Falls from the bottom of the gorge;

Norfolk & Western "J" 611 & "A" 1218 under steam at the Southern Loops;

GM Heritage Center;

Category 1 hurricane at Ocracoke;

Northern Lights & Southern Cross

I never thought about it that way. I have shots in my mind when I go on a trip, but I don't have a grand shot list.

Stuff that I want to get this year include:

1) Good baby shots for my co-worker that is 7 weeks away from being a mom.

2) Shots that rise above being embarrassing for my co-worker (who is also a part-time wedding photographer) that is getting married in May.

3) I'd like to organize an outing of pre-schoolers to the arboretum for some good non-studio shots.

4) Daytime long exposure shots around Pacific Grove.

5) Some good mixed ambient and flash light around sunrise and sunset on the coast in Pacific Grove.

6) I've had a hankering lately to do some shots of attractive young women, but my usual subjects are all kids or middle aged people. I've either got to be patient and wait for some of my subjects to get older, hire a model, or find some other source of attractive young women.

My wife would probably list some African safari stuff, but I'm just not into that. The exotic location stuff I could list would really just be places I want to go, not really stuff I dream about shooting.

Well, personally, I'm not as selfish as these requests are. My greatest photographic wish is for my wife...

Aside from the usual family and Disney stuff I want to try shooting:

-Severe weather and lightning
-Star trails by stacking images rather than long exposures
-Abandoned buildings and urban decay
