We usually head over to my brother's house for Christmas Eve. It's always a very casual night with either pizza or buffet snackie stuff to eat. Then we do gifts and play games. And for Christmas Day we go to my SIL's house. While it's not completely "formal", it's more than casual. She sets out her grandmother's Christmas china, everyone has on their "nice" clothes and we have a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

So to bring to my brother's house this year I've decided on:
meatballs/sauce in crock pot with italian bread
ham/cheese pinwheels cooked with a glaze on them (never made them before but they look good)
chocolate cake
my grandmother's chocolate cream cheese cupcakes
christmas popcorn

And for my SIL's I'm bringing:
deviled eggs
pumpkin pie
peanut butter blossoms
chocolate cream cheese cupcakes
maybe those mini store bought eclairs (always a hit over there)

So, what about you? What are you having or bringing to someone's house?

On Christmas Eve we will be flying home late from Florida.
Thankfully Christmas dinner will be at one of my sister's homes this year.
We're having a big turkey feast and I'm bringing the mashed potatoes.

DS and DDIL are hosting both this year. Her family will be coming from CA and PA for it.
Hopefully Eve will be our traditional Subway sandwiches and salads.
No idea on Christmas. I will bring what I am asked to...........usually something dairy free for DGD

Christmas Eve will just be the 4 of us. I don't know yet what we are having to eat.

Christmas Day we go to my DH parents and I don't know what MIL is making . I will make a choc. Pudding pie and maybe a cream cheese pound cake that is made in a Bundt pan. Oh and we also bring spinach dip in a pumpernickel bread bowl.

When I was young we went to my dad's aunts' house for dinner. It was very casual buffet with spiral ham sandwiches. And nobody complained if most of your "side dishes" were cookies as long as you ate your sandwich first.

Now we go to my parents' on Christmas Eve and we do a variety of hot/cold appetizers for dinner. It's one of my favorite nights of the year.

Christmas morning rotates between my sister's house and mine and whoever is hosting makes a big breakfast. This year is my turn. I am doing bacon, eggs, fruit, cheese Danishes, coffee and a hot chocolate bar.

When I was growing up, we always had a steak dinner on Christmas Day (my dad's favorite). My mom would grill the steaks outside even if it snowed.

Now we go to my in-laws and my MIL changes up the menu every year. But it is usually pretty casual, which is fine with me. One big turkey dinner per year is enough for me.

Eve is always a big Italian fish dinner with the family. Lots of fried shrimp, scallops, calamari, etc. Plus homemade calzones, chick pea soup, Christmas cookies, Italian pastries. Day is home with homemade lasagna, garlic bread, artichoke dip, cookies, and naps!

Christmas Eve is Rose & Crown.

Currently Liberty Tree Tavern and a dessert party for Christmas day, however I am really hoping to be able to get Skipper's Canteen if it opens! So, whatever they are serving! Be our guest for lunch :-)

I AM SO EXCITED.

Christmas Eve is a quiet night at home for DH and myself, we generally just watch Christmas movies and munch on cheeses/pickled bologna/hickory stick and crackers.

Christmas Day we will take Mom to the Chinese restaurant for lunch.

Our big family Christmas is January 3rd at our house. I'm providing the ham, cheesy potatoes, a relish tray, dinner rolls and a tray of Christmas cookies/candies. DS is bringing cocktail wieners in BBQ sauce and bourbon baked beans. DD is bringing meatballs in the crockpot along with a dessert. Our oldest granddaughter is bringing ham/onion/cream cheese spread and crackers. It's very casual, which is the way we prefer.

Probably have Chinese on Christmas eve and as i'm working Christmas day, whatever I can get at the hospital. For our Christmas dinner on the Sunday after it will be roast turkey, ham and the trimmings

Christmas Day tradition is ham.

Christmas Eve tradition is Feast of the Seven Fishes at Italian in-laws. I enjoy most of it, except the baccala (dried salted cod) and fried smelts. But if they served the following I'd be happy.

Most of my family is vegan, so we don't do the traditional holiday meals. Instead, for a long time, we've been having various themed dinners. Sometimes we pick a country (Italy, India, Germany etc.), sometimes we do other themes (like all red and green foods, all appetizers, all foods stuffed with other foods, etc.). When Obama was elected, we did foods from all the countries he has lived. We usually decide on the theme at Thanksgiving.

So this year, we have decided to go with foods from Syria in honour of the refugees coming to Canada from there. I'm having fun researching this!

We do the traditional seven fishes Italian Christmas eve. No meat allowed! Haven't made the menu for this year yet, but we usually do cheese and crackers as an appetizer, then shrimp cocktail, a scallop dish, seafood pasta dish, clam chowder, and lobster tails. Christmas day is the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, etc dinner.

My sister does sandwiches and snacks for our entire family (way over 30 some) for Christmas Eve. I do Spiral Ham and cheesy potatoes for my immediate family (sons and wives) the day after Christmas.

My favourite thread of the year! Christmas Eve is at my house. This is the first year in 43 years that I'm eating what I want! Usually we have fish. This year it's pizza, potato frittata, sushi and watching Christmas movies. Cookies and peppermint ice cream for dessert.

Christmas Day is at my mother in law's. We are having beef tenderloin, pasta with white and red sauces, Italian greens, steak cut fries, pickles, beets, roasted red peppers, bread and salad. There will be cookies, gingerbread cake, torrone (nougat) and fruit.

I only celebrate with my son (8) so things are low key. Usually Christmas Eve we have a taco/nacho bar which my son requests. Christmas morning I will make a big breakfast then we go to the movies and a Chinese restaurant. My Jewish friend turned me on to the movies/Chinese food tradition....I don't know what it is, but those two places are always hopping on Christmas Day!

This is what we do Christmas Day. A huge breakfast with egg casserole, bacon, sausage, fruit tray, and poohs puffed French toast. Then movies and dinner out in the evening. We do it because my DS was born on Christmas so we celebrate Christmas in the morning and his birthday in the evening. There aren't many restaurants to choose from, and DS doesn't like Chinese so we usually end up at Denny's which always has a huge wait.

Christmas Eve we are having chicken and dumplings. It's always just the 4 of us for a nice calm evening.

We used to eat out on Christmas Eve but switched to appetizers at home a couple of years ago.

Christmas Eve:
So far all I have on the menu is Curry Puffs (turnover things with curry potato filling) recipe: http://www.manusmenu.com/curry-puffs

Mint chocolate chip cookies and frozen white chocolate Oreos.

Christmas Day:
First Breakfast is always pop tarts. Kids eat this while raiding their stockings.

Thanksgiving for dinner since we were at Disney and didn't have turkey. We usually don't do a big meal. But this year we are.

Christmas Eve:
Anything that is fast. Santa has a busy night!

Christmas Day:
Monkey Bread for breakfast. Dinner Honey Baked Ham food! Nice and fast. I refuse to really cook on Christmas day!

If all goes according to plan we'll be helping to serve Christmas dinner at a homeless shelter, so I imagine our dinner will be their leftovers: dry turkey, instant mashed potatoes and boiled frozen vegetables! :santa: I kid. It's possible the food there will be really good and we're totally looking forward to it. We haven't ever spent a Christmas here at home in the entire 20 years we've been married - we've always wanted to do something like this and are excited to have the chance.

Christmas Eve is always pizza and lots of hot and cold appetizers (and lots of wine!) while we watch Christmas movies. Christmas Day breakfast is always eggs Benedict with mimosas and monkey bread. Dinner (around 5 pm) is roast beef, mashed potatoes, and all the rest of the fixings.
