I am getting so excited. Tuesday will be 30 days!

Thanks for the compliment on the video! I'm so glad that my parents took so many great pictures when we were kids. My mom was the picture queen when I was a kid! I guess that's where I get it from!

Yes! I am excited for it! I just need to make a decision so I can get the shirt out to her asap!

Okay, I took a looong break from the "our first trip together - 2006" because I was working on my video. But as it's 90 degrees outside and I did all my school work, and I've already watched 6 episodes of Buffy...I decided I'm going to add some more!

Here's where we were so far: It was Tom's first trip ever. We were having a blast! The crowds were inexplicably low for this time of year. We left off on Day 2, where we had the hottest experience of our lives sitting in the sun watching the MGM parade.

Day 2 cont. 8/10/06

We were exhausted but as it was Tom's first trip (and my first trip in 3 years :scared1:) we had to keep going! So we got ready and headed to DTD!

We roamed around a little...

ry%3D400

And eventually made our way to, what would become, one of our (short-lived) favorite places...

ry%3D400

I made the mistake of just walking right in before I was stopped and asked to show my ID to get a wristband! Woops! Back in the day, you had to show ID and pay to actually get on the Island itself....times had changed...I think this is a part of what led to PI's demise...but I don't want to go off on a tangent about this again....

Anyway, I knew Tom would love the Adventurer's Club. I had been there many times as a kid, with my parents and always had so much fun, even before I was old enough to understand all the jokes! In 2003, I went with my sister and friend and it was the first time I was old enough to drink and get in without a parent! Well we had a blast that night!

Then we went to the Comedy Warehouse...

Day 3 - 8/11/06

The next day we were up bright and early!

ry%3D400

...and headed to Epcot!

We spent some time in Future World first, where we debated riding Mission Space. This was just after a series of deaths! And just before they had created the wimpy version.

ry%3D400

While we debated, we ran into Space Goofy!

ry%3D400

We got our FPs for MS and went to Ellen's Energy Adventure while we waited...fingers crossed!
ry%3D400

Well, we made it on the ride and came out in one piece. I did not enjoy it at all! I was so concerned that Tom would die (I'm not even joking) that I couldn't enjoy the ride at all. Aside from the immense pressure on my chest, I couldn't think straight and I even forgot to do my "job!" That is SOOOO not like me! But we survived and went on to World Showcase...a place that would soon become the place we fantasize about during the long NJ winters....

ry%3D400

Mmmm, the cantina!

ry%3D400

After a few margaritas...

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Look! Still no crowds!!! :rolleyes1

ry%3D400

By the time we left Epcot that afternoon, I was soooo exhausted I had to actually stop on a bench on the way to the bus! Seriously, I know I take dramatic, posed pictures, but I assure you, this was no pose!

ry%3D400

Cont. from previous post...

Remember I said I had something planned for every night of our trip? The first night was Spectro and Wishes, the second night was DTD and this night was.....the luau!!

We made our way to the Poly and I thought this was just the most amazing sight!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I don't think I've ever been more exhausted than I was waiting for the Luau to start. I remember so clearly waiting in this little area before being seated and I literally could not stand up. I was just miserable. The past 3 days had just caught up to me and it felt like every muscle in my body ached!

But food awaited!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

The show was reeeally lame (no offense to anyone who likes it) and completely different than what it had been when I was a kid. It wasn't just a luau, they had this made up story about a girl who went to work in the "big city" and came back to the mother land but didn't quite fit in. She had to find her roots and such. Just not great, especially when you are so tired! But everyone perked up real fast when the fire dancers came out!! This was the best I could do...

I just noticed your dates - we were there from August 15 - August 22 in 2006, we were lucky enough to do free dining that year, so we stayed at the GF with the money we saved. I just thought it was interesting, since we seem to vacation at the same time often, lol.

enjoying the 2006 updates Nikki! ... the parks really were quiet weren't they!? :thumbsup2

Lol the first couple of times I went to the AC I didn't really understand most of the jokes!! Miss that place :sad2:

That is funny that we were there almost the same time. We left on the 16th so technically we were there 2 days together!

Yeah he was fun but not worth carrying around. I don't think we ever took him back....

Loving the recaps :thumbsup2 Gorgeous pic of the Poly Pool and the Castle in the background. We are thinking about sitting in the pool one evening to watch the fireworks.

Was there free dining in 2006? When we went in 2009 in August for free dining it was super crowded! How nice to have low crowds!

Yeah. Plus there are no new "updates" in the parks.

So he'll stay at home hehe

Exactly!

There was free dining in 2006 - I believe it started August 13th. It has not started that early since then though. It was crowded, but not too terribly. We arrived on a Tuesday and it was a bad start to the trip. We almost missed our flight because of a fatal accident (which was really scary) at the entrance to the airport - then when we were checking in, all the computer systems went down. They were down for about 5 hours. Luckily, they gave us a complimentary ticket to get into the park until they could print our KTTWs. I have vivid memories of that trip -lol.
