What's Mission: Space like?

I was wondering what Mission: Space is like. And if possible, specifically compared to the Shuttle Launch Experience at Kennedy Space Center. (My mom, sis, and I did the SLE while we were there.)

IF we went back to Florida in December (which is possible but not super likely), Epcot's on the itinerary and I want to do Mission: Space. Trouble is, my sister doesn't and I thought it'd be fun to ride together. We watched the POV video on youtube together; she didn't freak out, but she kept asking 'What's it feel like?' and of course I don't know because we've never been there. So, please tell me what it 'feels' like and etc, etc.:) Anything you can't tell from a video basically.;)
Oh yes, and how different is Green from Orange?:)

Thanks in advance!

I am fairly susceptible to motion sickness, and within 15 seconds of the ride starting (Orange) I wanted OFF! My first thoughts when it ended were, "I never want to do that again. Ever."

but, I'm sure some people love it.

Orange is very very intense.

Oh ok! Hmm...I don't think I will inform my sister that it's 'very very intense'. She can just find out herself.;) That would probably make her say 'No way!' I don't THINK the motion sickness think would be an issue because she does like spinning rides and will ride them over and over. (ie., the swings at Busch Gardens Williamsburg; teacups, which we end up spinning as fast as possible the whole time and then are all dizzy when we get off;); etc.)

there are two levels to mission: space, one is orange (the intense one) and one is green, which is less intense. i have not done either, but someone with experience on the green version could perhaps let you know how that is.

Yeah, the Orange side of MS made me so woozy. I haven't tried the Green side yet, but I've heard the G-force isn't nearly as intense (if there even is any). Also, if your claustrophobic that could be an issue, it's a very tight space.

Let's put it this way, the orange section of the ride has barf bags (at least the last (and final) time I was on it did.

If you do ride it a tip is to keep your head looking forward, don't turn it, to help with any motion sickness.

Orange feels rather like being on a Gravitron ride at a state fair - where you stand against the wall and the whole thing spins and you stick to the wall. The g-force on Orange is stronger than that, though. It does some tilting up and down as well. The tilting is all the green version does, there's no g-force. They're both in an enclosed capsule that will bother claustrophobic people.

^Thanks, I'm thinking what would probably happen is we'd try the Green one; then if she likes it, then we do Orange.:) (Which means waiting twice, grrr.-_-:P:))

Have never done Orange...too skeered...but the Green side is very mild. Hardly felt a thing.

Haven't tried Green. Had very bad reaction to Orange.... Severe nausea and major panic attack. Will.never.ride.again.

Are there any NEGATIVE G's? Because that's what my sister doesn't like. Neither one of us get motion sickness easily (actually, only time we've ever gotten it was stopping and starting in lots of traffic in a hot car {broken AC} for like an hour, which stunk:P).

Well put it this way,,,, I have flown F-15's and love rollercoasters. I do not like Mission Space (Orange). It's basically a centrifuge but one you sit in sideways. Your body does not like lateral G's, it certainly doesn’t like them when it can't see what is in front of you or causing them. I think the ride tops out at about 3.5 G's which isn’t that bad but again,,, they are Gs that are pushing on you sideways and that - to me- just isn’t fun.

I haven't been on on a Gravitron, although I've seen videos and pics. (The times we've been to a fair where they had one, I was like 'Hey, let's go do that!!' but my parents thought the tickets to ride cost too much. Which happened on ALL the rides.:P)
I'm honestly thinking the whole thing sounds really cool!:) (I think all that g'force stuff is interesting.)

I have only done the green easy side. It was very easy. I dont think I could do the orange one, though:crazy2:
Our DD took a friend one year when they only had the intense version. None of us would ride it with her and she said it was intense. She felt "off" for a good while after that, but thankfully didnt throw up!

We rode both Green and Orange. They build the warnings quite a bit and I think this adds to the fear factor.

Green and Orange are similar rides but you feel the G forces approximately 3 times on the Orange ride. I would suggest you try Green and see if you have any problems being in the closed space. Then decide if you want to handle the G force which is really the only difference.

I know many many people have had problems with Orange. We were given the advice of make certain you do not close your eyes and try to keep staring into the monitor it helps you feel less disoriented.

Hope that helps. I enjoyed it.

I think maybe we'll either do both (first choice;)) or just go ahead and do orange. (Why not jump in with both feet?XD) Worst thing that happens is we hate it and it's not like we'd have to do it again and again if that happened.:)

There are no negative G's (I know this because I hate them as well). On the orange side they try to trick you into thinking you're in 0 G once you reach space, but it's quite obvious that's not really the case. You've just stopped spinning and feel 'lighter' because you now have only 1 G instead of multiple.

I don't get motion sick either, so the only time I ever felt 'off' afterward is when I'd had an ear infection the week before. I think it's worth it to try the green side first if you're worried, but I first rode when there was no green side and loved it. The wait times are never that long, so going on both sides is definitely doable if you want to go that route.

Oh, ok! My sister will be pleased.;) (She won't go on roller coasters with big drops/airtime 'cause she doesn't like the feeling.) That's cool how that works!

Yup, I think we'll stick with the one of each version plan as long as the lines aren't crazy.:) (I have no interest in having a freaked-out ride with my sis.XD Once we rode a coaster together at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and she squished my hand and was all 'When is this over? I wanna get off' the whole time. And she fussed at me when I put my hands up.:P) But I have a feeling we'd like both versions.:)
