I really love karaoke and was thinking of checking Kimonos out. What's it like in there? Crowds? Age? Any info would be great! Thanks!

The 2 times we went there, it was kind of strange.
The girl running the show didn't seem like she knew what she was doing and there were just a few locals there.
The same locals were there the second time, about 6 weeks later.
It was very disorganized and no one could really sing, they'd just get up there and fool around. I know you don't have to be able to sing to enjoy karaoke but these people didn't even put any effort into it.
Maybe our experience there isn't the norm, but it wasn't much fun.

It would be interesting to hear from others who have had a better time there.
Maybe we just caught a couple of off nights.

I love Kimonos - I have been there as part of a small group 6 or so of us and then as a very large group (DISCon2) on another 2 occasions. The great thing about Karaoke IMHO is that you don't have to be a good singer to enjoy it - Karaoke is for people who just like to sing whether they are professional or just great in the tub ;)

The staff are very friendly. The sushi, what I've had of it, is excellent. There was a different woman supervising the karaoke on each of the three occasions I went, two I thought were good one I thought wasn't so.

All in all a good night - oh and I love it when the Sushi chef gets up to sing - that's such good fun.

I'll be there again in May :teeth: oh and December !!!

Thanks for the replies!!! What time does it usually get going? Does it work similarly to Jellyrolls in that you write on a piece of paper what you'd like to sing? I think we'll give it a whirl if we have time!

Are kids allowed into this bar - my DD who will be 9 just loves to sing.

I've never been there before 8.00pm. there are pieces of paper for you to make your requests and there is a book that you can choose your songs from they have hundreds. Kids are allowed in here :) and they're allowed to sing just not drink ;)
