What's in your finished basement?

My basement is a little different because we have a ducts above the ceiling that bring the ceiling height low across the center of the room. If you're over 5'9" you'll have to duck in the middle. LOL
Luckily my husband and his familky is short and I am only 5'4" so we don;t have any problems..but it's still something I wish was different.

Anway, we have a large room(half the basement), the playroom--half of it has a TV,VCR,DVD player, couch and recliner plus a bunch of toys.
The other half has no carpet, just tile and that's where the kids paint and use PlayDoh. we also have a baby grand piano down there that no one plays. @@
It's basically a room that I don't have to worry about getting trashed because no one needs to see it when they come over..it's the kids domain. We clean it about once a week.

When the kids get older I want to carpet the whole thing and make it a nice TV/family room...basically so the kids ahve someplace to hang otu with their friends.

We also have a big laundry room and an office which is also where my husband has his drum set.

On basement level we also have a 2 car garage that has been walled off and the driveway filled in(a new garage was built as street level) so we have a HUGE storage room that i could not live without.

Our finished basement is just about 1200 square feet and it's all dedicated to our children.

There's two painted children's themed murals on two entire respective walls.

Another small entire wall has magnet paint on it

A big pink play house

A teeter totter

A Per-pergo ride-on train set with tracks

A 9 foot slide (going down on one half the stairs)

A low balance beam

A small version parrarel bar -- for my daughter who's the gymnast

45 large red building boxes to make forts with

Foos table

Boccer ball table

AND MORE TOYS

Everyone that comes over for the first time always says "WOW, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!"

Large open playroom with the kids toys, TV-DVD player, my scrap area (18in 6ft high utility cabinet, 21in base cabinet, open area, another 21 in base, and a second utility cabinet with counter top over the base cabinets, and the open space), an "unofficial bedroom"--extra bedroom furniture, but with a regular size basement window (not the escape route sized one), half bath, and unfinished storage area.

We started working on our basement in April of 2003, and finished over the summer when the carpet was laid. DH and I did it with my dad, not a professional job, but it looks great and meets our needs.

Hmmmmmmm :scratchin Do you live on Wisteria Lane?

we have an excersise bike and weight set in one corner. My dd's basketball playcenter in another. One corner is a sewing center. My washing machine and dryer is on the last corner. There are book shelves filled with crafts and another with paperbacks along the walls, an art easel, doll house, and toy chest. We used to have a pool table in the center but then we made a huge game room and moved stuff up there. :teeth:

As I type the contractors are working on our basement. One part of it has a computer room, entertainment center, bar, half bath and laundry room. The other part(where the work is being done now) is a bedroom, a living room, kitchen and full bath. My elderly mom came to live with us during the X-mas holiday and will need her own apartment.

Our basement is broken up into 3 areas.

Area 1.) my DH's office

Area 2.) a storage room

Area 3.) a recreational room with a bar ( this is where DH goes when he doesn't want to watch the same TV show as me ;) )

exercise equip.,
computer
craft table and storage
tv, surround sound, couch, 2 chairs
washer/dryer
storage

dh uses the garage as his hangout.....tv and stereo.......
