What's in the Water on WDW's Attractions?

Water from that part of Florida has more sulfur in it thus the odor and taste you get from the water fountains. Add to that the bromine or chlorine (whichever was chosen for a particular ride) and the combination is more unique.

L'eau de Disney? Normally "l'eaux" have perfumes added as well. After you buy it at a Disney gift shop and bring it home (remember that containers with more than 3 oz. have to go in checked luggage), what would you use it for?

By the way, the most common use of "l'eau de <whatever>" is an alternative to deodorant.

Aha! So that's probably why we didn't notice anything unusual about the taste of Florida water. Our community is on well water, and ours has (among other things) a higher amount of sulfur in it. So to us, it's just normal water!

I don't think I want to know what is in the water on the rides, that stuff has got to be toxic or at least something you don't want to get on your skin. Maybe if it was leaked that it was very toxic people would stop putting their hands outside of the boat fearing they might get ill.

That's so funny, i like that smell too! I know I've been to a few places that have that smell and when i walk in the first thing i think of is " oh my gosh it smells like pirates of the carribean"!

I am soooooooooooooooo glad I'm not the only one who loves these "disney" smells. I can be at home and get a whiff of that special scent and the magical memories come flooding!! and it's been 7 years since I've been, but I KNOW THAT SMELL!!!!!

I do love the smell of the rides but just the mention of Florida water turns my stomach. I'm SOOO not a fan of the sulfur smell! Bleh!

After recently returning from yet another wonderful week at WDW, I realized that I had been favoring the water rides not so much for their sights, sounds and overall experience, but for the smell!

There's something about the smell of a WDW indoor water attraction that keeps me breathing deeply throughout the entire ride.

But what is it? The combination of water and air conditioning? The treatment of the water itself? What could that smell be that keeps me going back for more?

Whether it's Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Maelstrom, Living with the Land, Grand Fiesta Tour or even It's a Small World, I can not get enough of that smell.
