Whats Happening at AKL?

Phoned Virgin today to book my Premium Wedding and we decided to book AKL for our 5 night stay only to be told that at present they are not taking any booking for AKL due to problems at the Hotel. Any idea's whats going on their?

Not a clue. I would have thought the Dis would know about any AKL problems before Virgin though (seriously there are often reports way before TAs know) Maybe a contractural issue rather than a problem with the hotel itself?

Certainly my friends have just returned from 3 weeks there and they had no problems anyway. Have you thought of booking with someone else?

I called Disney Travel two weeks ago and made my reservation for 2 rooms at AKL in September and they took it. I received my confirmation papers the other day. No one said anything about problems. I would be anxious to hear of any though.

As it is over a year til you go suspect it is some sort of contractual issue, hopefully resolved soon.

I have heard of problems with weddings at Animal Kingdom but nothing about hotel reservations.
They have stopped doing weddings there due to the smells that can occur.

I wonder if the guy I spoke to was getting confused and thought I wanted my wedding their then Lets just say I was speaking to India when trying to sort this out

You could try speaking to Disney direct just to get the facts and then try Virgin again. I hope you get it all sorted out

I guess it can 'hum' a bit when it's very hot, but they are only doing what comes naturally at the end of the day. Shame if they are stopping weddings because it's such a lovely venue.

Bekki - I reckon you're right, the guy thought you were trying to book your actual wedding there. Good luck with the arrangements
