Have decided to change my ressie for California Grill to Kona Cafe. I've been to the Poly a few times, but always eaten at Ohana (which I'm doing for another meal on my trip). So what's good at Kona? I checked the menu, and would love any input on the following:

Pot Stickers
Shrimp and Coconut Curry Soup
Pomegranate Barbecued Pork Chop
Coconut Almond Chicken
Pan Asian Noodles
White Chocolate Cheesecake
Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart

I'm not going to attempt to eat all these . . . though I'd like to try! ;) Just trying to get some input before I make my decision. TIA.

I believe some of those items are new to Kona as a result of the recent menu change. Yet I can vouch for the pot stickers! My DH had them on our last trip and they were very good-perfectly cooked & full of flavor! :upsidedow

I think most of those entrees are new due to the new menu changes. The potstickers are so so tasty though as is he chocolate macademia torte. I miss the Kona Chowder - have heard really yummy things about the new Ono fish and I think the noodles got a bad review but you would have to look back and search.

I intended to reply to your post and tell you our favorite dishes there. I noticed that I was not familiar with some of the items on your list and MUCH TO MY DISMAY I looked at allearsnet and discovered that they've change the menu and eliminated my very favorite dish -- macadamia crusted mahi mahi. OMG, I am so bummed. I'm sorry I can't help you because most of the items on the menu are new. Good luck!

Agree macadamia crusted mahi mahi is OUTSTANDING!!

I hate bananas:banana:  , but if you like them I hear the tonga toast is good. I don't like coffee, but I've heard their coffee is good.:coffee: I know I must seem real picky. I loved their mickey waffles.:thumbsup2

The pot stickers were very good. Not quite as good as the sticky wings, though. (You might want to consider putting them on your list.)

The Pan Asian Noodles were also out of this world. I really loved them, even though I put in so much of the hot sauce that it gave me the sniffles.

Very often I will have the sticky wings as my main course. You get about a dozen wing parts and a pretty fair amount of salad.

The sticky wings are so good!

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love the sticky wings, the filet mignon is excellent if you like the sticky wing sauce, as for a side of it and dip the filet in it tasty. The Beef Teriyaki is also good. I enjoy the kids cone for dessert. My husband says the Kona Coffee is the best on property. It is very good, but he is a coffee snob. :rotfl2:

We have not had a bad meal there yet, and we eat there alot.

Pot Stickers- scrumptious!
Pan Asian Noodles-delicious with the shrimp!!
White Chocolate Cheesecake-amazing comes with three great topping to taste with it!
Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart-heaven on a plate, similar to a chocolate pecan pie!

Let me just add nothing beats Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes for breakfast with a pot of pressed Kona coffee!!!

Is the Pan Asian Noodles the same entree as it was before the menu change? If so, I am ordering them again this December! Yummy!

The pan asian noodles were horrible. I thought it would be a soy based sauce but it was a super sicky sweet sauce loaded with pineapple. I ate the shrimp and ignored the rest....I dont like sweet dinner entrees. I wish I ordered the pom pork chop...the guy next to us had it and it looked amazing!

No they are not, the server said it is now a sweet based sauce with a lot of pineapple...wish I asked before I ordered them. Luckily DH finished it off and let me eat his teriyaki steak, now that was fantastic

My DD loved the coconut almond chicken so much she ordered it both times we went to Kona. It's a chicken breast with a little side salad with fruit. It looked great! I think my favorites....the macadamia mahi and crab cakes... are now gone. :sad2:

That looks nothing like what I ate last year! Glad I asked before I went ahead and ordered. Hmm...now to decide what else to try...

I've loved everything I've tried at Kona - it's one of my favorites (and seems to get consistently good reviews from diners). Last month, I had the seafood chowder and sticky wings - both were great! Have also had a great steak there.

Also, try Tambu Lounge at the Poly - they have "to die for" lettuce wraps - hands down, the best food of our whole trip last month! Who knew? I've never had food there - just stopped by for a drink.
