I was told a couple of weeks ago to call back this morning (Feb 23rd) to make an ADR for Sanaa over at the Kidani Village. I know DVC has been able to make ADRs there for the last week or so, but was told ADRs would open up for every one else this morning. Well, I've been on hold almost all morning (since 6:00am CT). The first CM said it was showing in their system, but it was still locked up, so he was going to send them an email and for me to keep calling back. The second CM you could tell was uninformed, knew absolutely nothing about it, and said that since it was at a DVC resort, that only DVC members would ever be able to book it and it would never be open to the general public. When I asked her why we are allowed to book Olivia's or Turf Club then (since they are at strictly DVC resorts), she informed me I wouldn't be allowed to book either of those either. When I told her I had eaten there she informed me I was mistaken, as no one is allowed on the grounds of those resorts, unless they are DVC.:headache: Whatever! I then called back, and got a CM who told me the general public could start making ADRs for Sanaa today, but had to go through member services at DVC to do so. I told her I wasn't DVC and she said it didn't matter, that all Sanaa ADRs had to go through them.:confused3 She then proceeded to transfer me over there. The guy at member services got very irate, informed me they did not make ADRs, and he was transferring me back to Disney Dining, as they should be able to make the Sanaa ADRs for me. Excuse me, don't yell at me. I didn't ask to be transferred to you. The WDW Dining CM did it. Anyway, I finally got a very nice CM, who said she didn't understand what was going on, but she was going to put me on hold and try to help. She came back twice to tell me she was still working on it and hadn't forgotten me. She finally came back and told me she had went to her supervisor, who had went to her supervisor and was on a three way conference call. After being on hold a while longer, she finally came back, asked for my number and told me they were still trying to figure out what was going on, asked again for the dates I wanted, and said a supervisor would be calling me back within a day or two. I didn't ask for a supervisor, but the really nice CM went above and beyond and did it on her own. She was great! My question, though, is what the heck is going on with Sanaa?:confused3 I have probably spent close to two hours on the phone trying to get this ADR. My word, Le Cellier is easier to get.

Hi,

Sorry, I know the "confusion" among some CMs can be very frustrating. I don't know if this will help , but here is the latest from allears:

Sanaa (Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village) Dining reservations may be made by Disney Vacation Club Owners only beginning February 16, 2009. Sanaa will be serving Lunch and Dinner. No date on when reservations will open to everyone.

Aubriee:

I had the same experience this morning - about a 20 minutes wait with dining while the CM went back and forth with her supervisor and with IT about booking Sanaa. The CM told me the same thing - Feb. 23 was the date showing in her system for booking Sanaa for the general public, but the computer system wouldn't let her actually make the reservation. She tried to transfer me to DVC as well, but since I called around 8:15am, DVC member services wasn't open.

When I did call DVC later in the morning, they told me that Sanaa wasn't open to general public bookings yet and they did not have an expected date.

I saw the AllEars message as well last week, but was hoping that the reservation would go through anyway.

It's definitely strange that the Disney Dining computers list that they can book today, but the CMs aren't able to actually process a reservation.

Just an FYI.

I just got off the phone with Disney Dining after an hour and a half. In this time, I was able to secure Sanaa with no problems for a dinner on Wednesday May 27th. I am not part of the DVC and the CM I spoke to was very helpful!

Maybe you might want to try calling back. Just a thought. Good Luck. I hope you get the reservation.

PS- the only TS I was not able to receive was Coral Reef. She said they had nothing in their system for that restaurant yet. Anyone else have this problem?

I got it, I got it. I just called back and the CM said there had been a glitch in the computer system earlier, but it had been fixed. However, when I told him I was a party of one, he said that he was going to have to book it as a party of two or it still wouldn't take it.:confused3 Anyone want to join me at Sanaa on May 12th?:lmao: I guess my dining partner will just be getting sick that night.:lmao: What the heck is up with that though? No restaurant ever has a table for one. When I go down there solo I'm always put at a table for two (and sometimes even four). Is Disney going to start discriminating against solo diners? If a table for two is available, they should allow a solo diner to have it, since no restaurant I know of ever has tables for just one.

Dumb question.....how do you pronounce Sanaa??

I cut and pasted this from another thread here on the DIS:

In anticipation of the scheduled May 1 grand opening of Kidani Village, the newest phase of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, the resort's new table-service restaurant, Sanaa (pronounced sah-NAH), is preparing to take reservations.

Member Services will begin booking Sanaa reservations for Disney Vacation Club Members only beginning on Feb. 16, and other Guests will begin making reservations on Feb. 23 by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463).

Named for the Swahili word for "artwork," Sanaa celebrates African-inspired cuisine with an Indian touch. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant will serve familiar foods prepared in tandoor ovens, along with slow-cooked specialties showcasing the flavorful spices of Africa. Chefs have drawn inspiration from the many cultures and cuisines along the historical spice route of the 1400s, through Africa, India, China and Europe.

Other highlights will include handcrafted décor inspired by an East African spice market, a savanna view and beverage offerings ranging from trendy cocktails to South African and world wines.

When I made my ADR I was asked if I was on the DDP and was then told it would be one TS credit.

Thanks for posting about now being able to book Sanaa. I just made my ADR with no problems whatsoever. On and off the phone in less than 5 minutes. I can't wait to try this restaurant. BTW, the CM did confirm that it is worth 1TS on the DDP.
