What's going on the third week of January?

I was just trying to book rooms the third week of January (19-26) and there are no value rooms available. This is the same week we've gone for the past three years and the place is usually deserted. Is there something special going on that week, this year?

Cheerleeding/Twirl/Dance Competitions - Various dates each year, usually January-March. These usually don't have a lot of impact on the in-park crowds. The issue is that the Value resorts (All-Stars and Pop Century) play host to hordes of girls who can be extremely loud -- so you may want to avoid those resorts during competitions. Some of the competitions include College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships (January 18-20, 2008), National Dance Team Championship (February 1-3, 2008), National High School Cheerleading Championship (February 8-10, 2008), Twirlmania (February 15-18, 2008), Cheer & Dance National Championships (February 23-24 and February 29-March 2, 2008) and National All Star Cheerleading Championship (March 7-9, 2008). Some of these events take place at Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in Disney-MGM Studios, so that attraction might be closed on some of the dates listed above.

Thats MLK jr weekend. Alot of schools have a long weekend. My DD8 has a half day the 15th then off till the 22nd!!! We are heading down on the 16th. I have tried to change resorts but they are all booked!!! So were staying with OKW. Hope you find a room!!

I got a SUPER deal on Windsor Hills (right outside of Disney) for that time frame. On Windsor Hills' website, I put in my name and e-mail address and tons of people e-mailed me with availability.

So, if offsite is an option for you, give it a shot! Like I said, we got ours SO cheap. Plus, I've always liked being able to walk out the house door, into the van, then shoot right over to the Disney lot. I'd guess we've always been inside the parks in maybe...20 minutes?
