What's going on in October???

Does anyone know if there is a convention or something going on in October. We tried to get reservations at BC, YC, and BW and everything is booked for the week of 10/22/05 - 10/28/05. Just curious

I have no idea. Did you try calling or try online? It seems that there have been a lot of problems with their online reservation system. You might want to call. If you already have, then who knows? I don't like the sound of it! We are going the week before. Hope it isn't going to be crazy busy!

There's the MNSSHP at the MK and the Food & Wine thing at EPCOT, but I wouldn't think that would be enough to sell-out the resorts this far ahead. Strange.

All I know is October (and December) are very popular times to go for DVC members and BW and BC fill up fast for us even when we book at 11 months out.

The Epcot resorts seem to fill up very quickly at this time of year it seems.
In fact YC is one of our Favorites and we could not get ressies for it for this trip or our next trip unless we moved our dates around.
We were also told that many of the Soap Stars stay at those resorts during soap Weekend and Stars /VIP's in general stay at those a lot whenever there is some kind of an event. Also like others have said there is the Food and Wine fest... etc... going on at that time.
Sometimes if you just move youd dates around a day or so rooms will open up.

I'm not sure, but the Funai Classic (golf) may be that week too.

The annual American Osteopathic Association medical convention is in Orlando 10/23 -10/27. It's a "unified" convention this time - it includes GP's, all the specialists and subspecialists. Plus wives who are AOA Auxillary members. There's a HUGE turnout (with families) when it's held in Orlando. Which means several thousand doctors looking for upscale lodgings.

It's a good bet that a large number of docs and their families will be staying at WDW in deluxe rooms or DVC. We are - my husband's an Internist and I work for his corp. We're DVC members and we'll be at BWV 10/22-10/28. We'll be there with our son and DIL, who were both CM's in the WDW College Program - they met there. Visiting WDW with these two kids is a HOOT.

I can hardly wait! F&W. MNSSHP. Evening EMH. And what's even better - a chunk of it's tax deductable. Can life get any better than this?!?

The Funai Classic is the previous week. I know because my husband, the Golf Fanatic, was trying to figure out how to do both. No such luck, but I can't say that I'm TOO upset about missing the Funai. He'll be on the links for half the trip as it is.

Yeah, the PGA thing is October 17 - 23, 2005 . I did notice when there was a post about Fall break a few months ago that a lot of schools were our during that week. We are going the week before that. 18-22 and I I hope it isnt packed either.

Wow, I can't believe those resorts are already booked up. Did you try looking online or calling? I would call just to make sure. Hopefully they have something for you.

I checked online and the BW is available.
The BC and YC weren't available though.

I would definately call the Central Reservations Office and check.

Hi, I'm from ENgland, the week that you specified is what's know as half term here, that is when all the British schools have a week off, this could also be a contributing factor. Just a thought.

A hard ticket event in October called Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Tickets will be going on sale probably May. (May 1 last year)

The park re-opens from 7:00p to Midnight and you can trick or treat and it's all decked out and there's Halloween music. They'll be a Halloween Parade asa well shown two times. Then there are special fireworks at 9:15p.

The dates this year are: Sept 30, Oct 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16 18, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31

Thank you! Did you see them on my thread in the Community board?

We had to go with the kitchen cabinet place our builder uses which aren't custom cabinets, rather they are manufactured by a company, but we did best we could. They are from Kitchen Sales in West Bridgewater, MA. We LOVE solid oak cabinets and that is what we have now, but ours in our current home were custom made. Much nicer, IMHO and they were even cheaper then the ones in our new home. Go figure.

Thanks for the compliment on the colors. That was the toughest decision of all!
