What's going on in Oct that BWPPI would be booked?

Just checked dates for the weekends in Oct. I know Gay Days is the first weekend, but why would the second and third weekends be sold out? The next two weekends, including Halloween, are open. Any ideas?

I remember hearing something about Utah schools being out and some kind of Utah Educators conference being held 10/17 or 18? That could be part of it.

There's the same problem at the Disney hotels too. I am guessing that they are saving rooms for some kind of mass fall promotion for the typical "slower" weeks before Halloween. Hope that's the case, because I want to get a room in early October and just about everything is sold out!

Many Arizona schools have October breaks too. I think with the Halloween parties, October has just become a busier time than before in general. Have you tried calling he hotel directly? When I checked online at BWPPI for a suite in January for the Star wars marathon weekend there was no availability, but when I called them directly, they were able to book me a room.

I know there is some kind of charity walk type thing going on at DL on Sunday the 12th....not sure if that is why it is booked or not. I booked for Oct. 9-13 several months ago and while checking on prices also notice that the weekend has been sold out for quite a while now.

As mentioned, the CHOC walk event on the second Sunday made the parks very busy last year, so I'm not surprised to hear that the BWPPI in sold out. I also think the MHPs are likely to increase hotel rentals for Friday nights in October.

It's Columbus Day weekend. It has become a very crowded time over the last few years - and I do not feel like DL is crowded until it is crazy.

The CHOC walk is definitely the big culprit on the second weekend in October. It really slammed the parks full of people when we were at DLR over the CHOC weekend last year.

Over the first October weekend, as well as the weekend prior, it's not just Gay Days sucking up the rooms. Those two weekend also coincide with the Jewish High Holy Days, and Jews who choose not to observe them or be in synagogue may be traveling. I know we definitely considered spending Rosh Hashanah with the last weekend in September at DLR this year.

What everyone else said. It's a busy time at the resort between Gay Days, CHOC Walk, Columbus Day, Arizona and Utah Fall breaks plus Halloween parties.

I posted something similar on Micechat last week. I was trying to book the second week of October at the Grand. All DLR hotels and nearly all good neighbors were completely sold out. We decided to just pull the kids out of school and go the following week... and booked four nights at the Grand.

There is a convention, the Utah people thing, Columbus day, etc.
