What's for dessert @ Chef Mickey's dinner buffet?

My hubby's birthday dinner is at Chef Mickey's. In all of the years we've been to Disney, this is our first time eating here, so we are very much looking forward to it! I am needing to know what types of desserts/ice cream are on the dessert menu? Dessert is my hubby's downfall, and so I wanted to order him a birthday cake, but I keep reading (All Ears mentions it as well) that the dessert bar is great, and so I'm thinking he's not going to want a cake (we will be going back to Saratoga right after dinner, so we can put it in the fridge if necessary).

If anyone could provide specific dessert item descriptions or photos from Chef Mickey's dinner buffet, that would be great as the search function is not working again.

Thanks, Tiger

I have no pics but there were several pastry items, cheesecakes, chocholate cakes, mini fruit tarts, and a HUGE sundae bar!!!

HTH

We loved the dessert bar! Several varieties of cakes and sweet pastries, soft serve sundae bar, cookies, brownies, rice crispy squares, you name it. They also had fresh fruit. We took a few pieces with us for breakfast the next morning. I doubt you'll be hungry enough for a separate cake. Why not just bring a candle and place it on his dessert(s) of choice?

:sunny:

I had a birthday dinner here a few years ago. As we were seated, the hostess brought out a cupcake for me with a candle in it and my family sang happy birthday. I also received a special CM placemat that said happy birthday. We use it at home now for all our birthdays.

There is a chocolate cake on the dessert board that is to die for. It is so awesome.

Just make sure that your ADR has a birthday request in there, and remind them when they seat you.

We loved Chef Mickeys!! There is more than enough at the dessert table! I loved the warm apple crisp to which I added vanilla ice cream and choc. chips!!! Also, even though I scoured these boards before my trip I was not aware of the following (not sure if they do it every day): TIP: While you are waiting for your table they take a family picture/kids picture in front of a board with Chef Mickey on it and then try to sell you a package. Unfortunately we came straight from the pool and we were a frightening sight! Wish I would have known ahead of time.

The CM specifically recommended the cheesecake.

We made a "sampler plate" for the table to share, and the cheesecake was the favorite - and we usually go for something chocolate.

Thanks everyone. Couldn't respond earlier as we just returned from our niece's first communion - good desserts there too! I think I'm going to stick with the cupcake - we've had a cupcake as well as small cake for other birthday celebrations in WDW, but never at buffets with such huge dessert offerings - my hubby is going to explode - LOL!!!

Thanks again. Happy eating to all, Tiger

I'm so glad to hear of the dessert menu at Chef Mickey's. We attempted eating there a couple of years back and my son was absolutely frightened at the characters that we had to leave. Disney did not charge us for the bite we had and instead let us leave. We have since had a couple successful character dinners and are looking forward to going back to Chef Mickey's. Thanks for the info on dessert.

Oh yeah.. I just ate CM's the other night the cast member is totally correct. The cheesecake is terrific! :) Yummy!
