What's for boys in the "new" fantasyland?

I already said this in another post but I keep thinking about it so much I thought I would directly post the question. What is there for boys?

I love Cinderella's castle and my boys actually do too but with the new fantasyland sketches the Magic Kingdom is becoming overly girly!

Why isn't there more pirate stuff? I asked in another post too, how about putting in a replica of the Black Pearl and having Jack, Will, Elizabeth, and maybe even Barbossa on hand?

What about a villans area?

I would love a sit down restaurant with pirate or villans as the theme. It seems like there is so many possibilities to interest boys but we keep hearing about princesses as the focus.

I definitely understand that we can't underestimate the marketing power of the princesses but c'mon give this Disney-loving mom of boys something to look forward too!

I agree...I have 2 boys (14 and 12) who still love the magic Kingdom and would love some more boy stuff....really me too - I like the princesses dont get me wrong, but I love pirates and villans!!!

Sorry guys. After I posted this thread I saw another thread talking about the same topic. I didn't mean to overdo it. LOL.

I see on the other thread most people are pointing out that parks like DHS are more for boys and I can agree with that. I also will say that I didn't mean to imply that boys can't like the princesses, in fact mine do!

When I saw the announcement it just wasn't extrememly exciting for me to want to call the boys in to see what I found out. I would still like to see more pirates or villans work.

I also would like to see more Villans presence in MK, even a charector dinner would be a great improvement. A Villans land has been rumored off and on since I started going to Disney (2002), with the tales ranging from a new ride to a complete new theme park.

But as far as POTC movies being integrated into the parks more than they already are, I just don't see it happening. For once POTC movies are rated PG-13, that's not really fitting w/ the theme of young children that MK is built around, it also goes against the 'family entertainment' theme that Walt based his parks on.

I agree totally. I have two boys and can't have any more children. I would love to see more stuff for boys. The saying "If you build it, they will come" deff applies to this. We would not only go to it, but spend money on whatever it was. When I showed the D23 Expo video to my DH he said he refused to go into that area once it was done b/c he was sick of having princesses shoved down his throat every second at WDW. I just don't understand when Disney became just about the princesses, b/c the way they are running it now that's how it seems.

What's for boys in the Fantasy Land now? Face it Fantasy land has always been for girls and small children.

I have girls and a boy... and I don't think it being " girly" is a problem. I think people are forgetting that there are sooo many boy things in WDW that it probably is way more crowded on the boys side than the girls. Stich, Nemo, Buzz, TSM, Dino land, pirates league, etc... theres a lot geared towards boys. It's nice to see more princess stuff. My girls love all the boy things and love minnie, mickey and the gang, but even at that- they still love to see the princesses!! I think this is a good thing... and this could quite possibly be the first land to be overhauled. Maybe more pirate stuff is coming... ???

Harry Potter!!

Oh - wait.

I had said this on the other thread - I have a boy and 2 girls so I can see it from both sides. I actually think the majority of MK is more "boy" than girl. Jungle Cruise, PoTC, Swiss Family Tree, Buzz. The thing is people see these things as somewhat gender neutral. i.e. girls can like more traditionally male things but boys won't like traditionally "girly" things (we all know there are exceptions to this). Also, in my opinion, DHS is very boy oriented. Star Wars, Lights Motor Action, Indy. My DS happens to be very traditionally boy and my girls happen to be very girly (I don't know how that happened I was a 'tomboy') so I am happy to see a princess area. I just wish it would get done faster before my girls grow up and aren't interested! My girls will be 5 and 7 in 2012 so hopefully they still like it! Will my DS be thrilled with this area? Maybe not but we will drag him in anyway. The one thing I do wish they had was a more traditionally boy oriented meal. Toy Story, Cars, Pirates. Something for the 3 to 8 crowd. I don't have a good answer to the princess meals when my DS wants to know what is for him. My DS does not see Mickey and friends as a good boy meal (although he likes them).

Don't forget it wasn't too long ago that Disney acquired Marvel comics. They aren't going to make any announcements about anything with this until more details are finalized...just give them time. I'm sure creative juices are flowing..they didn't pay big money to just let this sit on the shelf.

I told my ds7 about the new Fantasyland area and he was pretty excited to see all the princess stuff. He never once said, "what is there going to be new for boys?". (keep in mind, he's a huge Star Wars fan and superhero fan).

OOOOOOOOOhhh..I can't wait to see what they do with Marvel! My dd2 would be super excited to see superheros-as much as to see princesses.

It's all for everyone!:thumbsup2

I have a DS6, and there was a time when he was VERY into the princesses, something I am sure he will not be too proud of at age 18. Oh wait, maybe he will.:rotfl: Now, taking him, he is not really into them. I am not disappointed by the new stuff at Fantasyland, so long as they keep barnstormer. My only complaint on the boys v. girls stuff is the character dining. I really wish there was a boy centered character meal. There are so many possibilities, I can't believe they haven't capitalized on it. I mean, give us a Star Wars meal, or Toy Story, or something. Can you imagine the wait list for a meal with a wookie?!

I have 2 boys and I don't think that there is a lack in boy activities. I do agree with the meal, I do think that Disney is lacking in this area. I love princesses, and my boys don't mind Fantasyland and the princesses at all. I also am not pushing them into doing very boy things because in my opinion, they have the rest of their lives to be all into their testosterone. We hardly label boy/girl in our family, and my boys love watching princess and fairies movies. ;)

As much as there is for girls in Adventureland, Liberty Square, Frontierland and Tomorrowland.

I don't know who would be more excited about a Star Wars character meal...my DH or DS!
