What's Close to Windsor Hills

I am going the end of April and was wondering if anyone knew what is close to WH in terms of shopping, groceries and dining. I have tried to look on mapblast, but I dont know the actual address or major intersection.

Any ideas?

Windor Hills is about a mile from the intersection of Rte. 192 (West Irlo Bronson) and Old Lake Wilson Road. When you hit that intersection, going left will bring you to a less crowded part of Kissimmee than going east (past the WDW maingate). There are lots of places to eat - Red Lobster, Key W. Kool's, Ponderosa, Subway, the Colorado Mining Co (Steakhouse) and many others. There's a liquor store just left of the intersection on the left. There are also a few grocery stores - Publix if you go west on 192 and travel for about 1.5 miles. It's on the right at Orange Lake Town Centre. Or there is a Winn Dixie Marketplace about 3/4 of a miles going that same direction on the left - it's not well marked but it's in the same plaza as the Subway and there's a drive up ATM at a bank right there too. There's also a small convenience store right next to the liquor store.

Going east on 192 will bring you to tons of restaurants - whatever your heart desires. I'm not sure about grocery stores going that way, but I'm sure they're abundant too. We preferred to stay to the left of the WDW maingate as there is much less traffic there.

Also, if you go west on 192, the next intersection (stay in the right lane) is the Sherbeth Road that takes you to Animal Kingdom in a few short minutes.

We really enjoyed our time at Windsor Hills last year and will be going again this year. It's a great place!

we loved staying at Windsor Hills. It's very close to 192 off Old Lake Wilson rd. However, once you get back to 192, it's kind of the seeder part of 192. Lots of tourist type places. There is a WinnDixie and a Walgreens not too far if you go West. If you go East past the main enterance to WDW the area improves. That way you'll find a ton of restaurants ie Logans, Chilis, ect. if you keep going there is a wamart on Vineland to the North and on 192 there is a superTarget and samsclub. It seemed that the further East you go the better the area gets.

Here's a blurb from my website (I own townhomes in Windsor Hills Resort)...

The link to US192 lists ALL of the stores / restaurants by location up and down the "strip"...

Where can I pick up any extra sundry items I need?

Our home is located just minutes from US 192 where numerous supermarkets and superstores are found. There is a Publix supermarket located 2 miles West of Old Lake Wilson Road on highway 192 and a Winn-Dixie at Formosa Gardens Plaza, just West of Old Lake Wilson Road on highway 192. There are also 3 Wal-Marts and a Super Target within a short driving distance, well as numerous convenience stores located on US 192. Also nearby are stores such as Walgreen's (drug store), and many others, so obtaining nearly anything you should need while vacationing should be quite easy, and a whole lot less expensive than staying on the Disney properties and eating out all the time with no kitchen!

Here's another great idea...don't feel like spending time at the grocery store when you arrive? Pre-order it all and have it delivered right to your vacation home from http://www.gardengrocer.com/ !! This company is like what we call "Peapod" here in Chicago. You can pre-order all of your groceries online and have them delivered anywhere in the Disney Resort area whenever you would like!! The groceries cost the same as going to the store yourself, and are of high quality, and they charge you only $10 for delivery... if you spend over $200 then delivery is free! It'd be cool to do all your "shopping" online before you ever even leave so you're not wasting time at the store when you arrive!
