I know there's a certain website where you can look up breeders for all kinds of dogs, but I don't remember what it is. Speaking of dogs, after adopting mine from the pound back in 2003, it's unlikely I'd ever get a dog from a breeder unless it's a rare dog that you would almost never see in a shelter. My dog now has at least a couple years left. After he dies, it's going to be a few years before I get another dog. Until then, I thought I could look up breeders just for fun.

Your best resource would be to start at the National Breed Club for the breed you are interested in. They can provide you with a list of reputable breeders that adhere to the breed's code of ethics. You can find the official breed club listed under each breed at www.akc.org.

Sometimes breeds will have more than one, but you will usually uncover that in your research. Start with the official breed club and by talking to them, they can guide you to what you are looking for.
