What's a good BCV view to request?

Hope everyone had a great new year! We are planning a trip back home in early '05 (staying with naval sister at Shades of Green for this year). I'm looking for a BCV 1 br villa that has the following view:

Not facing Dunes Cove/Quiet Pool/Parking Lot/Gator Pond
Not facing woodsy area
Not near Service Road
Non smoking
Not on bottom floor

I'd like a view of Crescent Lake, but is this even possible? Some say there are views of MGM, but it's so distant that I wonder what else this view would contain(?). Would appreciate any firsthand experiences.

Oh yeah.. Please do not take offense to my prefrences, I love the BCV and I would be happy staying there even if i had to pitch a tent in the parking lot. ;-)

You have really limited what you can see. You don't want what amounts to every view BCV has.

The Epcot side views the road AND the woodsy wetland area in addition to some portions of Epcot.

You can't have a view of Crescent Lake. No BCV room has that.

You need to limit your requests or you will effectively give the room assignor no help at all.

What's most important?

If you want a chance at seeing Epcot, you may have to put up with woods and the road.

If you want the quieter side you may have to put up with the pool view and maybe part of the parking lot.

You need to decide what's important, but if you ask MS to list all those things you have in your opening post, you will be disappointed no matter what. If I were you, I would request non-smoking and an upper floor and leave it at that.

And for what it's worth, ALL BCV views are wonderful. Even the ones that have part of the parking lot. It's not like you are viewing a filthy pit. The landscaping is beautiful and the part of the parking lot you might see is small.

I knew it would be impossible to post this question without someone taking offense. Oh well, at least your answer was very helpful. Thanks for taking the time...

as zulaya says it just depends upon your outlook - I look at a view of Spaceship earth and I am amazed - someone sees the same view from the same room and can only see the service road -

remember BCV was put in after Epcot and BC were finished long after - the views are wonderful if you want them to be.

some people love the pool view - some people love the parking lot view because they can also see the stream where the alligator lives. Some like the woods view.....

find something you like - not something you dislike.

the only dislike I have are
non-smoking and non-handicapped room.
my other request were - high as possible with a view of Future World - I loved it - but yes the service road is there - any views of Future world you will have the service road (what do you think it is servicing - the FW pavillions)

I do not see where the offense was intended - in a very informative way the responder to the OP basically stated that all of do not want views essentially covered every room

I agree with spiceycat in so much as pick something you like (do not request pitch a tent in the parking lot :earseek: ) then go with that

Do you have the link to InstImpres room listings?

thanks

I wasn't taking any offense. I just wanted to point out that all views are good. That getting a view of the parking lot isn't as bad as it sounds or as people make it out to be.

From your list, it sounds like you are going to have to find something that you can live with, because like I said, you have a dislike listed for every possible view that BCV has. If you can decide what's most important to you, you may be able to narrow your requests down.

Perhaps you should call MS or BCV itself and ask them.

And I know it's been pointed out before, but requests are just that. On my three visits, I have had 2 of them not meet my requests. On one of those two, they were able to find a room that was closer to my requests than the one they originally assigned me. (And I always reserve at 11 months) But one time I got ground floor, really hoping for an upper level. There just wasn't anything available. It ended up being a great location because it was close to Dunes Cove, close to the parking lot and even though we were on the road side, I didn't hear the noise at night at all. And we even could see the high Illuminations fireworks.

Just a case of where lemons really did turn into lemonade.

By making the statement "ALL BCV views are wonderful.., even the ones that have part of the parking lot..., the landscaping is beautiful..." the poster was directly contradicting my opinions, which was NOT the purpose of this post; it was to get eveyone's ideas on what they feel a good view is based on my parameters. I happen to not like parking lot views and wooded areas; according to the poster (zulaya) my opinion means crap, and that's why I felt it was offensive.

I apologize for getting off the topic but I wanted you to understand.

Zulaya, if it's any comfort, I knew exactly what you meant and that you hadn't taken or meant offense. In fact, I read the OP's list and giggled. That list effectively eliminated every single villa at the BCV, and you know what? I'd rather be looking out the window of any of them than at work like I am, today. "Bad" is relative . . . and it's in the eye of the beholder.

srf10, maybe if you told us what you would like to see when you look out the window, we could suggest a view. As others have said, though, Crescent Lake is not possible unless you're in the original Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Boardwalk. Maybe you'd like a view of the quiet pool?

Pat

295 days and counting . . . again!

Gee Pat, when you come up for air after laughing at me can you expand a little more on 'quiet pool' view? Is this the same as the pool next to gator pond, or is there another that I am unaware of?

We stayed this last Dec and asked for; Top floor, Non Smokeing & EPCOT view and got room 546. We did see a little of the road but had a GREAT view of Spaceship Earth. The fireworks were not that bad. The only problem was the distance to the car with all the stuff to bring to the room. When we go back to BCV, I will request this area again.

sorry as I say the service road is a service road for the pavillions if you can see Epcot then you will see the service road

but believe me high enough you won't care -

now I am not sure about those rooms because they look at on WS - not FW -

anyone stayed there - did you have a view of the service road?

I have 561 - studio - wonderful view of Spaceship Earth - really didn't care what else I saw.....

srf10, I was not trying to offend you. In my clumsy attempt to assure you that whatever you got would be nice, it seemed you took offense. I wasn't maligning you opinions. It's as I said, you can't get a room that doesn't conflict with what you say you don't want because you listed quite a few criteria.

The area you are referring to on the map might have at least a partial view of the road. We have walked along the path on that side of BCV and I think you can see it. I don't know if it is more obstructed the higher you get or not. That area is listed as Wetlands View, I believe.

I again suggest that you call MS or BCV and explain what you are looking for and ask their opinions. They will probably have maps that have more detail than in listed in the link above. They probably can give you a very informed idea of what area might best meet your requests.

I dug out my room map for 4th floor, which would be the same for 1,2,3 and was looking at it. And then I checked the comments on InstImprs BCV site.

The area you mentioned as between "C
and "D" on that map is listed as Woods/Wetlands view. On my map it appears that this view does not primarily face the road, but I am the first to admit the copy is not the best. The 1 BR comments on views for that section are the following:

~quiet garden and back of BCV
~woods/Illuminations view
~Swan. TOT, BW and high Illuminations
~courtyard view, other side of BCV

There are also some rooms that overlook the courtyard between BCV and BC, where the Ariel statue is, if that gives you any reference. Not sure what you might see here as there are few comments on the view from that section.

If you want the section between "C" and "D", it's called Woods/Wetlands view.

Normally people don't recommend requesting room numbers because it almost always doesn't happen. But when you get there, you would be looking for rooms numbered, x20, x22, or x24, and odd numbered rooms x25-x51.

The Courtyard room sections are odd numbered x01-x09, and x19-x23.

I hope this is helpful to you.

This may be a silly question, but what is Instimpres Room listings?
Is this a more detailed map of BCV. I have seen a very detailed map of VWL, that list where each room numbers is located. That would be great for BCV. Does is exist?
Thank you

I don't have a BCV map like the one of VWL. MS was supposed to send it and twice I have gotten a regular resort map.

The room list is reports/comments compiled to give people a better idea of what various room offer. I will say it is strictly based on an individual's opinion, which we may or may not agree on.

Here's the link http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/beachclub.pdf
This will give you an idea of “sectional views”. It is extremely difficult to ask for a specific room (as well as trying on the CM’s). With the new room ready policy, guests have reported getting several choices at check-in and this may than help

The file is in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

Good luck
Sandy

The only view that might come near what you want is the view of the courtyard that has the Mermaid statue in it and the front entrance to the BCV. This view is of the landscaped courtyard that is between the BCV and the back of the Beach Club resort.

You have to remember the BCV was built in the parking lot of the Beach Club resort and the old tennis courts. I personally do not think any of the views are great, but most are either of the pool, canal area or of the woods.
