What's a "Caernarfon"?

...I am researching house prices in Wales for my Economics Coursework and I wanted to know a little bit more about the town of Caernarfon. So could anyone of our Welsh Friends give me a little description of the town please?

Also, could someone please tell me how to prononance it!!!

I've always pronounced it CAR - NAR - FON
it has a beautiful castle (in fact Wales has more castles per square foot than Scotland!) dates from 1200 and something for Edward 1st
ita a royal borough, and has the royal welsh museums for armoury and regiments and is a national heritage site.The town dates back to roman times and has roman museums and also has an airfield for private aircraft use and an aircraft museum.
Its a very pretty town, am I right in thinking Prince Charles was crowned Prince there - or was that at Cardiff? I can't remember really, its been years since I was up that way

One of the most spectacular castles about. Its a nice town, spent alot of holidays around there over the years. One good thing about the area is there are loads more nice places within an hour, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Criccieth, Llandudno. Betws-y-Coed and obviously all the other Snowdonia towns and villages. the area!

I thought Prince Charles was invested at Canarvon - or is it just a different spelling?
