What's a bigger racket? Youth sports or uniforms/apparel?

I didn't realize that there are traveling teams that were non-profit. Our club's coaches are paid. As are pretty much all the clubs in our area. We aren't looking for a college scholarship from this. We just want our son to play varsity in high school. In our area if the kid didn't play club then they will be sitting on the bench in high school.

Non-profit doesn't necessarily mean that coaches aren't paid. Just that the club isn't charging fees above and beyond what it costs to operate (including coaching salaries).

I know these exist in my area, we just aren't involved in an organization where the coach is paid. The good thing I've heard about one organization in particular is that the paid coaches are not allowed to be parents of anyone on the team. That helps with the coach not trying to always make their kid the star player. For baseball, I've heard these coaches get paid thousands per season, so I think that would increase our fees tremendously.

If you don't play travel baseball in our area, there is a good chance you aren't even going to make the JV team. The travel kids are training indoors and out, year round, and are always going to have the leading edge.

DS plays competitive soccer. His club fees are slightly higher than other clubs in our area, however, as part of our fees, all the uniforms are included. The boys get:

2 practice jerseys
1 pr practice shorts
2 prs black socks
2 prs white socks
2 game jerseys (home & away)
1 pr game shorts
warm ups (pants and top)
backpack.

Most of the other clubs in our area charge for all the uniform pieces. The only extra charge we had was $12.50 to have the boys' last name and # embroidered on the backpack, considering all 1000+ U13-U18 players in the club have the same back, it's helpful to have a name & number. ;)

I don't think of dance breaking my bank, even with looking at 18 hrs a week including team and privates. I look at as investing in her future. She wants to dance for Disney, and mama better be getting park tickets at the end of this!! (Sitting at the studio now, only 3 classes tonight, but I did find out I have to buy another pair of shoes tomorrow after buying new jazz shoes and her first pair of pointe shoes today. Thankfully tap, hip hop, foot undies, and ballet shoes still fit!)
