I'm working a little late tonight (work for a non-profit that provides services to homeless folks in NYC), coordinating tomorrow's program events and holiday special services. Have a ton of volunteers spread out throughout the lower east side of Manhattan, as well as up in Harlem and out in Brooklyn. All of them are either xserving our clients lunch or dinner, whiile others are helpling us put together social events, i.e. chess or card games, bingo, movies, etc...

I'm grabbing Joe and he and I are spending the day program hopping, checking in on all the volunteers, saying "hi" and "thanks", checking in with our clients, etc...

So no turkey dinner for us. But at the end of the day, we're going to see a movie, grab some Chinese and head home and have a quiet night in.

Friday is our Thanksgiving day in our household, with friends, etc... Lots of food, wine, games and fun stuff.

What are you folks doing? Anything different? Same old? Traveling (yikes)?

We're actually not traveling this year. The last few years we have been either going to my cousin's in Bay Ridge or my aunt's in the city. So luckily no driving for us tomorrow, everyone will be coming to our house.

You do a good job Rick! Happy Thanksgiving!

Instead of grabbing Joe, could you perhaps gently take him by the hand?? :earboy2:

Sounds good Rick. :) Just spending a quiet day at home cooking for my hubby and kids. :goodvibes

We're going to my sister's house in Yonkers (same old). But this year there is a new addition, my nephew's baby, who is 8 months old! So I will be seeing my three grand-nieces and my grand-nephew, as well as their parents and my sisters and their husbands. I also get to see Spunky, my parent's chihuahua, who lives with my sister since my parents passed away. He will probably spend alot of time on my lap tomorrow! Then we head down to NJ for a nice long weekend!

Have a great Thanksgiving Rick! You do great things! :love1:

We are going to my Dad's about 45 miles away and will stop by Mom's while we are in town.

Good for you, Rick! I hope you and Joe have a great time!

I'll be going to my aunt and uncle's house (about an hour away) for dinner with my brothers, SIL, nephews, cousins, and Grandma. My parents live in AZ and will have dinner with friends there (they'll fly home to visit us for Christmas, though).

DH will stay home and sleep, though. He works nights and if he came with me for T-Day, he wouldn't get any sleep at all before having to go back to work. Since he works with heavy machinery, that's not such a hot idea! :)

My family is going to my brothers house. Everyone is bringing something to add to our feast. At last count we were at 26 people.

Rick, you are a good person, with a big heart. You are very lucky to have someone as special as Joe. Not all so's would be willing to give up their holiday to help others.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Working a 3-11pm shift. I hope they're aren't too many women thinking of having their babies on Thanksgiving!

we'll be in NYC. :cool1: we'll watch the parade from home though

coming in from the burbs for dinner w/my ILs and extended family.

hitting target at 6am on friday!

rick - your day/days sound great!

Another one here going to my brother's. We usually have it at my parents', so this is a big deal going elsewhere. He has a castle, so I am worried about my 16 month old DD - castles aren't kid friendly! Lots of old things that can't be touched, concrete floors, and a big hyper golden retriever puppy! I hope we aren't too stressed, but I have visions of chasing her around the whole time. My DS5 will love it, I'm sure.

Just my little family and my Mom with me cooking :guilty: Tomorrow night we will watch the Polar Express and then off to bed early for me. Shopping Friday with my MIL

Have a great day Rick :cheer2:

We are going to Fort Wayne to my DBs and DSILs house. On friday, DS will get home late on leave, so I am having both of our parents over for a late thanksgiving meal.

We WERE going to go to Dh's aunt's house (about 2 hours drive). NOW my MIL has decided that she is worried about a snow storm (don't mean to make her sound nuts, it is going to snow but I think she may be overreacting) and wants to eat at her house.

I'm just sighing. My parents are coming down today and were going to the aunt's house with us. So, there are 6 adults and 2 kids and MIL says that she has a 7lb turkey breast and won't that be enough??? Um...no. And my kids are going to be SO disappointed not to see their cousins.

Wish me luck.

We're supposed to go to my aunt and uncle's tomorrow for the big meal, come home, visit my dad, then Friday head north until Saturday (though that might end up being until Sunday). Sunday late in the day I'll go back to school.
However, it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Have to cross some of the mountains to get to my aunt and uncle's. So we may be stuck at home eating chicken and potatoes, with no gravy and without the majority of the family. But we won't know until tomorrow.

That's a good reason to work on Thanksgiving! And I'm glad Joe will be with you.

I'm going to my sister's--she lives about a half hour away. My sister & her family arrived late this morning, my other sister is driving in tonight. We'll have an all day feast, watch some football & some DVDs. I'm sleeping over so my sisters & I can help the economy on Friday (AKA Black Friday shopping!). Then the BILs & I are taking the 4 older kids (Jake, 7, Samantha, almost 7, Maggie, 5 & Dana, 3) to see "Chicken Little" while Matt (age 21 months) stays home with mom, aunt & grandpa.

Getting up around 6am to make the drive up to Tampa to stay the weekend with my MIL. And to think I will only be a little over an hour away from my most fav. place WDW. Do you think DH will miss me if I go missing for a while....LOL

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving
