We are driving over to DLRP and because of that we have the added bonus of being able to take extra "stuff" in our car.

We are going for 5 days/4 nights ... staying in the Cheyenne

So what extra "stuff" would you take - excluding clothes, waterproofs etc ofc :)

I was planning on taking some snacks, fruit, maybe a bottle of ribenna, a kettle, coffee, tea bags and powdered milk (plus maybe a small flask so that we can take coffee into the parks ??) ... but what else would be a good idea to take ?

As we stayed in Davy Crockett Ranch our extras were maybe because of the cabin and the desire to eat some of our meals there.

Folding micro scooters so that the troops could scoot about the ranch. We also took them over to the Cheyenne.
Portable iPod speakers... can't cope without music and podcasts.
They all took Nintendo Ds's.
Colouring books and pens for down-time.
Waiter's friend as we like a nice glass of grape juice at the end of an evening ;)
Sharp knifes as I don't cope with knifes that would not cut butter.
Cup a soup when someone wants a quick snack.
Breakfast cereal since some days they would prefer this to a croissant :confused3
Tripod, although I was banned from taking it into the park with the family threatening to disown me :headache: I'm going to think of a cunning plan for next time :rolleyes1
Spare towels and plenty of suntan lotion.
First aid kit.

Now I'm remembering why we take the car and roof box :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sorry Reid, how BIG is your car exactly??? :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We took a few small bottles of water to last us through the journey and the first day or so, a packet of croissants, a few cartons of juice, small packets of raisins but I think this time we'll have to take more snacks as DD2 can eat endlessly...:rotfl2:

Mind you, we went on the train and couldn't take the whole house with us...:rotfl:

Definitely snacks. My children can snack endlessly so I was challenged to find things they could snack on healthily. If you're going when it's cold, as we were, someone gave me a great tip of taking small fleece blankets for the children to sit on in outside shows etc. If you have a daughter, take a princess dress or be condemned to spending a fortune on one there!
Actually we also took little Disney presents I'd bought from EBay, and they just used their spending money from relatives in the shops.
Since we didn't want to spend time going to the supermarket I'm afraid we also took a few bottles of screwtop red wine - ridiculous I know, but it did the trick!

We do that for the first couple of nights too :thumbsup2

I would take drinks and snacks and if room was no object I would take my pillow I sleep on because you never find one as comfy like your own one ;)

WE also drive so the car is usually full of useful/useless bits and bobs.
However we usually do the trip as part of a longer self catering holiday so have all kinds of strange things with us.

Dont forget the mugs and teaspoon as well as the kettle.

We also take a jar of hot choc as well as cuppa soups. Biscuits and chocolates usually feature as well.

WE found the fleece blankets really useful at Christmas. We had a small back pack which we squeezed them into.

Also several pairs of shoes to be able to change if wet or when blisters start to appear

It is the black Picasso with the roofbox :)

Well I'm glad I don't drive, I take most of the house with me anyway just in case, if I had a car to fill the whole lot would be in there. ;)
They laugh at me in work when I mention my "medicine case", I like to be prepared, I won't list the assortment of creams, potions and cure-alls, but I could probably patch you up for almost all minor ailments. Can't imagine what the Hotel housekeepers think, it must appear that there isn't a part of me without an ailment :rotfl:

LOL! We are a typical American family, with a typical HUGE American car (a Ford Explorer) I always over pack. I don't mean to, it just happens. Things we always use are:
cereal, waffels, and fruit for breakfast in our room
bottled water, milk, and koolaid single packets for when my son wants somethiing other than water (they are perfect to take into the park)
coloring books, crayons, and GameBoy for while we are at restaurants
reading books for downtime before bed
balls and cars for the boys to play with in the room
DVDs and a portable DVD player for in the room and in the car
autograph book and pens
rain ponchos (the kind that fold up and you stash in your backpack)
Lots os diapers (our youngest is 20 months) and wipes
hand sanitizer (I'm a germiphob!)

I love the idea of a small fleece blanket to take to the parks and hot choc for when we get back into the room!

lol we drive over and always take loads of "stuff" too !! we self cater

lots of snacks and drinks, as hubby and sons seem to snack constantly!
ingredients for easily prepped light meals
portable DVD players
the kids gameboy & DS plus a bag each of books / mags / small toys etc
we also take their folding scooters like Reid!
teeny micro umbrella no matter what the time of yr,and folding waterproof jackets! to go in a rucksack "just in case"

when we go in the summer ,hubby will have his new company car by then

an estate :woohoo: so i will be able to take even more stuff with me ;)

Oh yes, don't forget the teaspoons, otherwise what happens is, on the first night of your visit you have to slip a teaspoon from the bar into your pocket and take it to your room to use each day of your trip. Then as you pack on the last day you slip it back into your pocket to leave at the bar on your way past. Then you get home and find you forgot and it's still in your pocket. Then you feel guilty every time you open your cutlery drawer and see the teaspoon you stole.
Not that it happened to anyone I know. :rolleyes1

We drive as well so take a lot of the things already mentioned. We also have a small travel fridge (you can plug in into the lighter socket in your car as well as mains powered.) I'm sure we took that last time to keep milk chilled (and a bottle of white wine!!)
