Our first Disneyland trip!!!

My wife and daughters (ages 6 and 10) will be at the resort from 11/17-11/25. We have plans for every day except for 11/17. I plan to be checked into the hotel by 4pm and am trying to plan something for that evening.

I know we aren't going to the parks that night, but was planning on maybe going to DTD that night to shop and eat and kick off the trip. Is DTD similar to how it is at WDW??? Where should we eat? Anything we can't miss at DTD?

Does that not require an admission to one of the parks? We have three days that we will be actually in the parks 11/18-11/20. Are there character dinners offered outside of the parks, similar to some of the dinners at WDW?

I apologize for my confusion! We are dIsNeYwOrLd vets that are truly clueless about DLR! Stressed about all of the "unknown" but should make for a much more exciting adventure we hope!

These are all outside the parks:

Goofy's Kitchen is at the DLH
Lilo & Stitch at the PPH
Storyteller's at the GCH (only has characters at breakfast, though)

There are several restaurants for you to enjoy in DTD. Rainforest Cafe seems to be a popular choice.

Hi!! Welcome to the DL DIS!!!

DL DTD is smaller than WDW. I'm sure you are aware that it connects all the resort hotels to the parks. It's a fun walk. There is more of a variety of non-Disney stores than WDW. Does that make sense to you? The only place we've eaten at, is La Brea Bakery, and Wetzel Pretzel. Both were good. But on our next trip, I would like to try Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. It gets alot of good reviews here.

I really wanted to inform you about a Stickey from Hydroguy, that has a section written just for WDW vets going to DL for the first time. To me it's a must read for everyone! Look for it at the top of this board page entitled Hydroguys Tips Compilation. I'd give you the link, but don't know how.

We are staying at Ramada Limited Suites Anaheim Convention Center, and I've been reading reviews and am a little sketchy on it to say the least. Really wanted the separated kid's room because Mom and Dad like to stay up a lot later than the little ones.

I've actually printed and read Hydroguy's 'book' and it's given us a lot of great information. Thanks for the tips!!!

I think we'll plan on Goofy's Kitchen for Saturday night after we arrive. That would be a fun 'set it off' event that should set the mood perfectly!

We now have PS for 11/17 at 7:30pm at Goofy's Kitchen. Read a lot of great reviews and went for it. Kinda suprised we could get those reservations for a Saturday night this close to the actual date!?! Chef Mickey's at WDW would have been a no-go by this point.

That's luck that you got those ressies!!! Make sure to walk around the DLH grounds before or after your dinner. They are not as extensive as some of the WDW resorts, but nice. They have remote control Jungle Cruise boats that you can power around that is fun.
Enjoy the parks! you are going at a great time.
