It's so nice of all of you to help me out.

I hate to ask anymore because I know there are other topics about this, but since this is our first time to Disney are there any "must-do" snacks that we just have to try? We get two per day on the plan and I know we'll have a dozen credits leftover by the end of our trip. Seems like a waste, but I would like to try some of the staples. Any suggestions?

OK in the UK pavillion in EPCOT a portion of "chips" counts as a snack which are french fries and are fantastic

Dole Whip Pineapple Float in Magic Kingdom is great

Cheese stuffed Pretzel in Hollywood Studios is also a must for me

Also I've used snack credits for desserts and for fruit salads from food courts (and sunshine Seasons in EPCOT) as these can be eaten any time.

I've heard you can use your snack credits in Goofy's Candy store in DTD and here you can make your own candy. Ask for take out boxes and pack them up in a cooler bag and take them home with you if you have extra or use the extra on bottles of drink.

Also someone suggested to me (which I did) that you use a snack credit to get a bottle of coke and leave it with a note for the maid on your last day as a thank you present. If I had thought about it throughout the stay I should have done this but didn't really think. As you have 2 snacks each a day you might want to do this either with a drink or some sort of wrapped snack as a gift just to give them something different and use them up.

MMMM your thread is making me soooo hungry!!

marrekesh.. I loved the chicken kabobs and the bastilla was the best dessert I think I've ever had at WDW...its so different for any of the other restaraunts offerings!!

Le Cellier: my fav is the BBQ Filet...but acording to allears, it appears to have been removed from the menu:sad1:
the cream cheese mashed potoatoes and pretzel bread were terrific... (I'm not a soup person so I haven't tried the cheddar cheese soup) I had the Chocolate "Moose" and it was delicius AND adorable! My DD had the childs steak, unfortunately it was not the best cut and was rather tough...she helped me with mine!!

If you still have any more ADRs to fill you might consider Chef Mickey's too for the little ones... its a buffet but the character interaction is great. it's a must do for us on every trip..even if it's OOP and not on the dining plan!

For snacks...you can load up on mickey rice krispy treats to take home ifyou have left over snacks... we've done that as :souvinears: for the kids BFFs...I have 14 nieces and nephews... so I never had enough left over to take them back for them!!:rotfl:

Have a wonderful time in the world!!
Paula

Narcoossee's I'd recommend the surf and turf. Or anything that comes with their potatos!!! :) DH had the Ahi Tuna and BIL had the scallops. They recommended both of those as well. For dessert you have to get the almond crusted cheesecake!! Delicious!!

These are items I've had that were outstanding

Le Cellier - cheddar soup and mushroom filet
Yachtsman Steakhouse - lobster bisque
California Grill - goat cheese ravioli
Jiko - filet and mac and cheese
Raglan Road - bread and butter pudding
Sci-Fi Drive-in - BLT soup
Rose & Crown - fish and chips
Narcoossee's - havent been yet but next trip getting calamari, scalops and almond cheesecake

Welcome!

Le Cellier - cheese soup
Yachtsman Steakhouse - filet
Flying Fish - one of my favorites! Love the potato wrapped snapper.

California Grill - sushi, sushi, sushi! Love the flatbreads too and the pork in polenta.

Jiko - wine! they have some amazing wines. the hummus starter is fabulous, the tuna tartar and the cheese plate

Sci-Fi Drive-in - a burger
Rose & Crown - fish and chips

Narcoossee's - PE mussels

have you looked at allearsnet.com? They have the menus.

I have only been on the dining plan one time and I got the special of the day at Marrakesh so I'm not sure if the Sultan's sampler is included in the plan. I would think that it would be though. It's small portions of several different dishes so I don't think it's really any bigger than any of the other dishes.

Before we left we had a ton of snack credits left over. We went to the main street bakery and bought the rice crispy mickey ears dipped in chocolate and brought them home with us. They are delicious. The apple slices with carmel to dip is a good snack to take with you as well. I think most resort food courts sell them. I have to second the dole whip idea. It's my favorite thing at disney!

I have seen allearsnet.com. They do a great job considering all the menus. I have a few questions regarding all you're wonderful posts:

1.) Are burgers really the best bet at Sci-Fi? Seems like we could get those anywhere in the parks. Not that I don't believe you guys - what do I know? :confused3

2.) I just realized I have Chefs de France and Marrakesh booked on the same night! That was a mistake and I have to cancel one as it wouldn't be fair to others who need the table. Which would you choose? Both cuisines appeal to us and we don't have any dietary restrictions or allergies.

3.) At Narcoossee's, would you prefer the surf & turf or the whole lobster? I read that the surf (of the turf) is not from a Maine lobster and thus different or less. But it appears you get more food on that dish than the whole lobster. I'm asking for my husband - these would be the two dishes on his short list.

Definitely! :thumbsup2 They are much better than any of the other dishes we've tried there, and much better than any we got in the parks.

:welcome: to the DIS!

Le Cellier - I adored the risotto that came with the mushroom filet. The steak was good also but the risotto was amazing!

Jiko - DH loved the filet with mac & cheese. I tasted a bite of the mac & cheese and thought it was very good as well even though I don't care for the dish. I had the scallops and they were incredible. Absolutely HUGE and served in a wonderfully tasty broth over a yummy pap cake.

Marrakesh - I remember that we got one of the multi-course meals for two but it was unmemorable at best. As a general rule for Moroccan, I like shwarma platters.

I've not done any of the others yet although we will be trying many of them on our upcoming trip.

Please do take pics and do a dining review when you come back!

Personally, I'm not a fan of Marakesh. The food was really bland and it was a unanimous opinion for my entire table. :confused3 I would keep Chefs du France. I've always been completely happy with everything there.

The following is my FAVORITE at Jiko (far better than the filet, IMO, and I think that California Grill has the superior filet.........BTW, if I thought that I could have licked the sauce off of the plate without looking like a compete idiot, I probably would have! ;) :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: )

Maize-crusted and Seared Halibut - with Vegetables of the Moment, Tomato-Butter Sauce $30.00

Fantastic advice, all.

I will cancel Marrakesh (maybe try next time) and keep Chefs for now. Jiko seems like a real sleeper hit on everyone's lists. I can't wait to go there. And I will definitely do a review when we return, although I'm afraid to do the whole picture-taking thing. I love looking at other people's photos but I might feel weird snapping them myself. I think I'd feel like some government inspector doing a survey. But I guess the staff is used to that by now. Not the government inspections - the guests taking photos. Sorry. ;)

Has anybody had the bread pudding at both Raglan Road and Ohana? I hear nothing but rave reviews for both but is one better than the other? I'd like to try as many different things as possible and I know we won't have a choice at Ohana.

Even though we have been to LeCellier, Yachtsman, Marrakesh, Cali Grill, Sci-Fi, Rose & Crown and Narcoossee's, the foods that stand out to me are the grilled pork tenderloin at Cali Grill, the chili at Sci-Fi, the potato & leek soup at Rose & Crown and the surf & turf at Narcoossee's. popcorn::

Le Cellier - In July I had the chili rubbed pork tenderlion and it was wonderful. I've also had the filet, and the cheese soup is a must for me.

California Grill - Pork Tenderlion and the filet are both great, as well as any soup I've had there.

Jiko - Filet and mac and cheese...

Raglan Road - Bread and butter pudding, but I did not like the shepherd's pie, pretty bland!

Narcoossee's - our new favorite restaurant!!! The crabcakes, crab crusted flounder, scallops and filet are all wonderful, as is the fresh, hot sourdough bread!!! Also, the almond crusted cheesecake is great, but you have to be a fan of almond flavor (which I am!). The key lime creme brulee is veery good, too.

This is my first post ever! I just discovered the boards! Yea-me!
