what would you eat at Coral reef?

Our family loves Coral Reef. :fish:

Last Sept we had the following and they were all FABULOUS:

Creamy Lobster Soup - chervil and brandy $7.99 (I must admit DD6 I love this soup even more than the Cheddar Cheese soup at LeCellier)

Grilled Mahi Mahi - served with spiced pineapple chutney over cashew-jasmine rice finished with coconut rum beurre blanc $20.99 (This was fabulous. DH would have loved another HUGE bowl of the cashew-jasmine rice)

Grilled New York Strip Steak
- served with roasted potatoes, watercress and tomatoes tossed in caramelized shallot vinaigrette $27.99 (This was an absolutely amazing steak. It was even better than the steak we had a LeCellier...melt in your mouth tender).

Butterscotch Creme Brulee - with seasonal berries $7.99 (I adore Creme Brulee in all shapes and flavors;) and this was delightful.)

In addition to great food, our kids loved the atmosphere (of course) and the service was fantastic.
We are looking forward to eating there again in June!

I agree, been to the Coral Reef 3 times for the NY Strip and is tastier then the Filet at LE Cellier, but still love the Filet also.

The mahi mahi was delicious. :thumbsup2

My mother really enjoyed her blackened catfish.

Love the chocolate wave dessert. :lovestruc

Also, the lobster bisque was really good. My 2 youngest had it as an appetizer with their kids' meals and loved it. I shared some with them. It was great to dip the bread in.

I get the catfish or the steak. Had the steak last year and it was awesome! We love the chocolate wave also. My son celebrated his 12th birthday last summer at Coral Reef. They did a great job on his Goofy birthday cake.

I'm glad to hear that many people do like the Coral Reef restaurant.
I chose it for a lunch on our trip in June 09, but I came across the DIS review:

www.disunplugged.com/2009/04/02/the-coral-reef-review

and it was so negative I was thinking I had to change my ressie.

It seems the reviewer didn't choose the NY strip or the Mahi mahi.
We were really looking forward to discovering the restaurant's atmosphere. We will keep the ressie and give it a try but I will certainly note everyone's menu recommendations. Sometimes ordering carefully can really make or break your experience!

Any more opinions on the Coral Reef? Especially recent (2009) experiences.

Thanks for your help and opinions!

This was one of the best meals we had on our wedding trip, everyone thought the food was amazing, there was ten of us!

I'm not a fish lover so I had the steak and it was fantastic!

We are booked to go back this time to.

The blackened catfish and cheese grits. The best meal of the whole trip! And I'm not a fan of fish.

I had the Ahi Tuna this past Jan and it was very very good! I usually order the Lobster Bisque for an appetizer, and it is also good.

The chicken dish at lunch was good. I think its interesting that most posters are recommending steak or chicken at the Coral Reef. ;)

Last time we went I had the blackened catfish and loved it. My husband also loved his meal, but I don't remember what he ordered--I only know he requested I make ADRs for this one again.:yay:

Another vote for the steak. I'm not usually a NY Strip fan but it was awesome here. Over the years I had heard so many negative reviews of Coral Reef so we almost didn't eat there but I wanted to experience the atmosphere. Now I'm glad we did. It was awesome.
