What Would You Do?

I've been a bit down in the dumps lately, and DB said he would like to try to cheer me up by maybe going to Disney! But...this weekend.

It would just be a "get a taste of the parks", one day at one park kind of deal. Probably not MK because of the price. Looking at either Epcot or DHS. Which would you choose? I'm a characters and rides priority kind of gal.

I know with it being a holiday weekend, it will probably be swamped. We'd go either Sat or Sun, from open to close. Would we be able to book any FP+ this close?

Would you even bother taking a one day trip on a holiday weekend with such little notice? Thanks in advance!

*UPDATE* Just bought our tickets...for MK! Just one more quick question, where is the Will Call located?

You would pass on MK for a $5 difference?

You get so much more for the money. Go to the MK and enjoy.

Can't say if it's worth it because I have no idea how far you would be traveling to get there.

Is that all it is? Huh i thought it was more. We'd be coming in from Tampa

I personally don't consider any of the other 3 parks to be worth the price of a one day admission.

Yes totally do it! As the PP said, Saturday might be a good morning to go to MK following the 24 hour party. Get there for rope drop and the park closes at 1am. If you stay all day you would totally get your money's worth :)

I'd pay the extra 5 bucks and go to the MK. If that's totally out of the question for you then I'd choose EPCOT, but that's just IMHO, since it's my fave park besides MK. Enjoy! I've been in the dumps too and would give anything to go back to WDW bc it fixes that feeling for me, but no luck for me for awhile with that.

Do you live in Florida? You get discounts on tickets if you do. I would definitely look into that for your trip. And, yes, I would do it in a heartbeat if I lived close enough. We live about ten hours away, though. Actually, come to think of it, my crazy family drove ten hours one weekend just to go to Magic Kingdom for a day. I think a short trip to the Magic Kingdom would be a great way to cheer you up!

We do live in FL, but do not have our FL id's yet. And there isn't a price difference on the 1 day tickets anyways. After double checking the price (don't know what i was thinking of) for MK, and seeing the hours, and that it's the only place I could meet Piglet...i think we just might do it!

I was leaning away from MK, mostly, because we're planning on going to MNSSHP in September, and thought this might be a good chance to visit another park on our journey to deciding whether or not to get AP's, lol.

Aw man, I thought there was an option to have your tickets emailed to you to print at home? Guess I'm all sorts of misinformed today.

What time would you suggest getting there to deal with going through will call?

No kids? Heck go to Epcot and have some adult time. I would die for a day at epcot like that. Plenty of meet and greets there and awesome food and shopping. Less rides but you'll have that covered in September. I would do it either way. Have fun!

Between those 2 choices - I'd choose DHS because you'll be going during SWW and would have lots of things to do - extra characters to see as well. I bet you could even get FP+.

I wish I was going. I was there in April though and need time to save up some money before I can go again.

If you are a rides and character type person then I wouldn't go to Epcot. Disney Studios has the Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster which it sound like would be great, but most of the rest of the rides there are show related. I would definitely pay the extra $5 for the Magic Kingdom for the day.

Just an FYI....Florida residents can get a 3 day ticket for $139 (in comparison to a 1 day ticket is $97 or $105). This particular ticket has to be used by June 5, however, but if you're going this weekend, make it a longer visit. You can probably find a cheap offsite hotel for $50-60 a night since all you need is a bed/shower.

Or, consider the regular Florida resident 3 day ticket...$189, you have 6 months to use all 3 days....so go once this weekend and then you have 6 months to go two more days. One park per day, no hopping option.

You say that you don't have a Florida ID yet....but there are alternate forms of proof of residency:

Florida Resident Tickets:
Proof of a Florida residential address is required. For each ticket purchased for an adult, you may provide any of the following:

  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
  • Valid Florida-based military ID
If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each ticket purchased for an adult you must provide one of the following dated within the last 2 months and evidencing a Florida residential address (not a PO Box) together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

  • Monthly mortgage statement
  • Florida vehicle registration or title
  • Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
  • Automobile insurance policy or bill
  • Utility bill
  • Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings or investment account statement
  • Mail from a federal, state, county or city government agency
The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. A print of an electronic bill of the type described above is acceptable. Photocopies and fax copies of bills are not acceptable.

The 24 hour day at MK starts Friday morning at 6am and continues until 6am on Saturday morning. Last year that day was INSANELY busy until about 2am, lol.....but Saturday was a relatively uncrowded day until mid afternoon (when everyone woke up I guess, lol). Enjoy!

I would chose Epcot. There are so many character there, and great food. Epcot is actually my favorite park, though, so I am biased. I had one day at Disney alone in April and I splurged for a one day park hopper. It was glorious. I saw HS, EP, and MK, and got to ride all my favorite rides. It was a great day!

Honestly, it would depress me more to make a long drive to spend a day at DHS. MK all the way for your situation.
