Turning once again to my fellow DISers regarding my upcoming solo trip. Thanks to everyone's responses, I have decided to take this trip. Now I'm facing a new quandary--how many days, 3 or 4? Would it be worth doing 3 in Disney and 1 in Universal, given I'd have to get from Disney to Universal or vice versa, and it would definitely add a hefty sum? Has anyone does this on their own? I've done Disney with people so many times before that I'm not sure what will end up happening when I get to choose for myself all day. Finally--is there anything going on in Epcot I shouldn't miss? I usually skip that park so I haven't been since summer 2010; not sure what, if anything, might have changed (besides the closing of Maelstrom). The Flower and Garden Festival will be over by the time I go in late May.

Thanks! All advice is appreciated.

If you are going to do US, then move over to one of their hotels for the night. You get free front-of-the-line passes when staying onsite.

For me with a solo I find adding Universal time is not worth the added expense. You can add a 4th park day for much less than a 1 day ticket to Universal. There's also transportation to consider. When I can split the fixed costs (car, hotel) with a friend, then I find the value proposition much better.

There sure isn't much new and exciting at Epcot, though it's still a fun park. If you take the 4th day I'd definitely go to it.

here a list of the special events

not sure when you are going - but love Epcot!!! - it has some new things - so might go anyway - besides you might see some of the f&g stuff - before they completely take it down.

would not waste time or money on US/IOA - on such a short trip - come back when you can stay longer or do only us/ioa not wdw.

For anyone who has ever flown in to Orlando, dumped bags, and gone to a park for the evening, was it worth the price of an added day on the ticket? I calculated that it would cost about 185 more--only 50 for the ticket, but more for an earlier flight to Orlando.

definitely gone to the park - I have an annual pass - so the ticket does not cost me anything. the times that I have flown - planned everything far in advance.

I've gone to the park but like spiceycat, I have an annual pass so hopping in for a few hours is not a huge issue for me

It is much, much, much cheaper to do a fourth Disney day than to do a fourth Universal day. Economies of scale. Better to do one vacation at Disney then a second separate one at Universal / Islands / Sea World / Busch Gardens. That's what I did.

I would go fourth Disney day if only to allow for a more relaxed experience...I had 9 days in WDW last time. I took my time doing the simple things you normally sweep by.

I would add the 4th day on to disney as well and then go back to universal separately if you can

Thanks to everyone. I ended up booking from May 26-30. I get in early afternoon, so I'll drop my stuff at Pop Century and head to the MK for an evening. Then next day is EMH morning at AK. I've never spent more than a half day there, so I'll have the evening free to maybe drop by Epcot (not a big fan), or relax, or whatever I feel like doing. Third day is EMH morning at MK. I'll be there the whole day. Final day--full day at DHS. Then I fly out the next day late enough to spend a few hours in DD!
