We have enough points for a 2 bedroom at BCV BWV or VWL for 4 nights.. Sunday -Fri which is where we want to stay next August. We want to stay 5. Should we...

1. Go through DavidsDVC Rental to have one night booked or is that a gambel just incase I cant get rest of the week once my 7 month mark comes out..

If I was to book and lets say had BCV booked for 1 night through Davids but it wasnt available for me... do the renters switch the resort for you????

Getting the resort switched would be up to the owners you are renting from. Going through David's might give you a little more flexibility but I'd give them a call to find out.

IMO, I would just wait until you get your 4 nights first and then give them a call to get the other night. August is not a super busy time and we have had not problem getting the resorts you mentioned at the 7 month mark in the past...especially if you call right at the window.

If the reservations are made with two different memberships (such as 4 from yours and one from a rental), you would have to at least check out and then back in again between the reservations. If you go this route, ask MS to put on note on yours with the rental reservation number and a request to stay in the same room. When you rent, ask the owner to have MS note your reservation number on the rental reservation with a request to stay n the same room.

If staying in the same room without the bother of checking out and back in again is really important, then consider booking the last night for cash through MS. MS can combine the reservations such that they appear to be one continuous reservation. This will probably be a more expensive option.

I agree with Sandi - make your reservation first and then rent. I do not think David's will allow changes/ waitlists and renting is definitely non-refundable.

I think I would try to buy points from someone willing to transfer. That way the points will be in your account and you can make the entire reservation. If you check out the rent/trade board frequently there are points available for transfer there. One transfer is allowed per use year.
