We have had the pleasure of 4 DVC trips and last Novmeber we bought PAPs!! We planned on taking a break in 2013, but now that we have the passes we're headed back this summer :cool1:! Never been in the summer.

We are a family 5 - kids will be 14, 10 & 8. Our home base is Kidani and we LOVE it . We've only stayed in a 1 bedroom (both sav. view and std), but my husband would really like to try a 2 bedroom this time. However, this will cut our vacation by a day (not enough points).

We will use all our 2012 and 2013 points for this trip so we won't be back until 2015 at the earliest. So, what would you do?

1. 1 Bedroom Savanah view - 9 nights, 10 days
2. 2 Bedroom Standard view - 8 nights, 9 days

Since we've done the Sav. view twice we're ok with not having it. My concern is 1 less day in Disney when we won't be back for a while :(.

Please let me know your reason for how you voted!

Thanks!

If you're comfortable with a 1 bedroom I would go for that. I'd rather have an extra day in Disney.

That said, we are a family of 5 and wouldn't find a 1 bedroom to be big enough. We love the 2 bedrooms.

If you find the one bedroom villa comfortable enough space wise then I would go for that. If you plan to spend more time in your villa the two bedroom villa would IMO be a little more justified.

You could still take a break in 2013 and do your WDW later in the year (Nov/Dec) and another in 2014. That way you get two visits within one year and maximize your PAPs.

I know you love Kidani. But I'm a firm believer that you don't know what you love until you've done it. So we're still in the process of staying at all of the DVC resorts. So, if I were you, I would stay where we haven't stayed before. If points were an issue, go with OKW/BWV STD.

Since you said points are an issue - I would recommend 1 BR to stay longer and not at AKL since you've already done that. You're not getting SV anyway - why not try OKW? Maybe then you can have it both (2 BR and the # of days).

Are there any 2BR value rooms left at Jambo? Then you could get the 2BR, still be at AKV and not have to compromise on the length of stay.

Or a split stay? Would you have enough points if you spent the first night or two in a 1BR to finish out the remainder of the 9 nights in a 2BR?

We've also stayed at SSR (split stay) & BLT. The family really prefers AKV. OKW doesn't really appeal to us and we still enjoy many viewing areas even if we don't have sav. view. Our PAPs expire in Nov.

Unfortunately there aren't any 2 bed values left for the whole stay at Jambo & DH won't do a split stay ever again.

Supplement one night in the 2 bedroom with DVC cash night? Seems like a good compromise for the length of stay you would like and your DH's wish for a 2 bedroom and to not move. :) Either way both options are nice lengths of time and with so many viewing areas at Kidani the standard view is a nice way to extend points as is staying in the 1br.

Hands down the two bedroom, shorter stay. DH and I like to get up and have our coffee in the living area and not have kids grumbling when we tell them to move it. They can mess up their separate bedroom as much as they want. Not having to make that couch every morning is really nice. :)

I agree, besides I go to Disney often, one day less is not a big deal and I wouldn't pay cash for it either!

We always book 2brs and Kidani rocks that 3rd bathroom and the grand master bath! Value rooms are too small for my travelling party, we enjoy being at the villa together, prefer more space!

I would go with the 2bdrm. One day more or less... no biggie. Doing something you haven't done before, I'm all for.

We are taking our sons 23 and 17 this August, we are trying a 2 bedroom for the first time at VWL. We are really looking forward to it. It's probably our last trip as just the 4 of us.... older son doesn't really travel with us anymore.

Aah! Life rolls on! My son's 16 and I can already see the signs... A bit sad but I guess the next phase will be going with the grand kids when they come! (hopefully after college & a great job) :rotfl:

Have a wonderful time!

My family of four considers a 1BR to be an unnecessary sacrifice---but we haven't yet tried AKV or BLT, where the sleeper chair and extra bath might make a difference. Get the 2BR. Having a space that no one sleeps in makes it much easier to accommodate night owls or early risers.

I'm in the 2 BR, shorter stay camp. DH only gets a limited amount of vacation time, so we believe in quality before quantity.

I LOVE the space in a 2br, but I also value all the time I can get at WDW. We are in the same boat for Summer of 2014. I want as many days as I can....hoping for 10 days, but we have to split stay between a studio and 1 br. Can't do the whole thing in a studio....I'd go nuts!

I would choose the 2 bedroom, less stress and its only 1 day. Plus you never know when you are going to buy more points.

With these two options, I would go for the 2 bedroom since it is just one less day. Now if you had a third option of a 1 bedroom standard view for 11 or 12nights, that might change my answer.

Shoot - voted for the 2 br before I noticed it was std view. By far, I prefer the Savanna view, even if it's a smaller accommodation. Take one vote away from the 2br and put it on the 1br.

what about seeing if you can use your once a year buy from dvc for enough points to cover the 2 bdrm for the whole stay. I think its 24 points max.

I voted 2 bedroom. It will help with creating a stress free vacation. I want 2 bedrooms and I only have one child. It would be nice to get up, fix breakfast and not disturb anyone.
