Hi All - I am planning a trip to WDW in April 2013 and I am very confused as to what to do. I was planning on buying our park tickets through Undercover Tourist this week (I do plan way ahead and it would be cheaper), and I will be calling to book our room fairly soon. I was wondering if this would be a good idea? With the Magic Our Way deals (which includes tickets, right?), and possible PIN being attached to our names, would buying the tickets now, not get me the PIN discount if I only would book a room and hopefully the dining plan? I am still new to this PIN thing, and last time I just went to AAA and they did everything for me and don't think they really looked into any kind of discount. Which brings me to another question, once I book my room through Disney, can I transfer that over to AAA (which I will be doing with the cruise part of this trip)? Thanks so much for all the info and help, DISers are truly the BEST!!!

You can certainly buy your tickets now and book just the room later. If you are asking if you buy the tickets now will that hurt your chances of getting a PIN or discount later, the answer is no. There is no rhyme or reason as to who gets pins and who doesn't as it's just luck of the draw. Some people never get them in the mail or through email, but call to get a quote and find out there is one attached to their name. One thing I did want to mention is you said you might book the room and hopefully the dining plan later. If you want the DDP, you have to buy at least a 1 day base ticket for everyone in the room in order to get that (unless it's for free dining, which requires at least a 2 day base ticket for everyone). So if you buy your park tickets now and want to change your room only to a package that includes the DDP, you will have to buy a minimum of a 1 day base ticket for everyone on the ressie, even if you already have park tickets. The exceptions to this is if you stay on points (DVC) or are an AP holder as DVC members (or anyone renting points) and AP holders can add the DDP without having to purchase additional tickets.

If you book room only now before the 2013 rates are released, you will be quoted at the highest rate for 2012 and then your ressie will be adjusted once the new rates come out, which should be sometime this summer. Your deposit would be 1 night's room rate + tax, with the balance due at check in. Also, if you book room only now and want to change to a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit, as money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. As far as transferring to AAA, I would imagine you could, but we've never booked through them so I don't know for sure. Hopefully someone will come along and be able to answer that for you. HTH :).
