What would you do?

I've been to Disney many times and this will be our third free dining. This will also my our first time we had to make a decision about what type of accomodations due to free dining. We are currently booked at CBR due to the fact that we had to choose a moderate for DDP. My son is now 3 and I am thinking that he might not want to sit for a TS once a day as well as I am a self proclaimed lover of Pop. So now I am thinking, maybe I should go with Pop and the QS, and pay out of pocket for any TS we may want. Heck, the 3refillable mugs are a savings of 36 dollars! It's difference of roughly 600 to be at CBR and I am not sure we would need that much for the TS we would really want, which is Chef Mickey's, O'hana's, and possibly CRT one time a piece.

Anyone else having or had this issue? Any advice?

Just something to consider. I don`t know how long you will be staying , and therefore how many TS credits you would have but for the 3 you want, that would already be 4 TS credits used up. I am not sure which meal you are thinking of for CRT but, breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children costs $164 when you pay out of pocket!! If it were me, I would stick to your current plan.

We paid for the CS dining package a couple of years ago and loved it. We are going in May on the free dining and have once again chosen the CS plan--didnt upgrade (we are staying at POP). I found on our last trip that we could pay oop for two TS meals and it was still cheaper than getting the regular plan (and we got the extra meals, the mugs, and an extra snack per person each day). Our 3 yr old isnt a great meal sitter and we wouldnt want to commit to a sit down everyday with her either.

I agree. CRT is SO expensive and when you add in one or two other TS meals it will be crazy expensive. If it were me, the savings wouldn't be enough.

The obvious option would be to switch to Pop and pay the difference ($13 per adult, $1 per child, per night) to upgrade to the basic DDP. It is still cheaper than a mod, and you'd be at the resort you want with the credits to cover your TS meals.
