So I have the first week of April booked at the OKW for $189 per night, just us 2 adults but DH says if we are going to be in the DTD location we should just save more money by staying at a mod resort instead....he doesnt think the OKW has a deluxe feel to it, we are not going to be close to any parks and will have to bus it every where we go...his reasoning is if we are going to use the buses all the time then we should just go value or mod and put the savings elsewhere....

This is the only deluxe resort open that week with the 40% off discount code.

What do you think? Does the OKW have the deluxe feel like the other resorts? Will I regret staying at a mod instead of the OKW?

I am confused by your post :confused3 . Is it an issue of wanting to be closer to a park or that it would mean being able to do more while there? If what you mean is that he wants to be able to put the savings on your room towards doing things while your there that you wouldn't be able to do if you stay at the OKW, then I guess I would be inclined to agree with him. I would much rather be able to do a few things more like better restaurants or additional activities that have fees over and above the park tickets. We always spend so little time in our rooms, that it is essentially just somewhere to lay our tired heads, I don't really care all that much (although I am not as fond of a value as I am of mod, or del). They are all so well taken care of there's no real issue of whether or not the room will be unkept. If on the other hand you will spend a lot of time at your resort I would go for the deluxe simply for the sack of being at a resort that caters to your needs a bit more. So I say if it means you can do more things switch to a mod, if you want to spend a lot of time hanging at your resort stay where you are.

I guess maybe because it isnt a momorail resort to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT or the board walk area resorts where you can walk or boat to MGM or EPCOT it dosen't feel like a Deluxe and that probably would feel that way. Bus,bus, bus,,wait, wait, wait what kind of delux feeling is that?
In a way this past SEPT. we turned POP into a delux we used are AAA parking pass and drove over the rental car (what a difference) now waiting for the bus or the 3rd or 4th bus after Illusions or fantasmic.

OKW has boat to DTD...nice peaceful ride
OKW has the biggest rooms of any disney resort(assuming I understand correctly)
OKW has beauty and peacefulness, wonderful fountains and GREAT porches
OKW has a great pool and slide..maybe not as thrilling as some, but it is nice to go down, even for this old woman
OKW plays some cool happy music

Your husband is right- go stay at a mod and leave my dvc deluxe alone more room for me and less wear and tear on our rooms :lmao:

Tell you if you got a room for $150 at OKW you would be a fool to give it up for a mod...can't even begin to compare..well maybe POR which is my 2nd fav resort

I have stayed at all 3 levels...and like all 3 levels! I have never been to OKW but from what I hear those are some of the largest and nicest rooms on Disney property!
If it is just the 2 of you the the size of the room would not be an issue...but at a value your gonna have a higher noise level, nothing but buses (which I dont have a problem with), and only a food court. With a Mod...you might have a boat you can take, full service resturant, nicer rooms. If that is more important to you then the room with the great rate you already have at OKW, then go ahead and switch if you can get what you want when you want it.

Personally I don't think I would leave the Deluxe with you getting such a great rate! I am paying $30 less a night roughly for a mod this June!

Thanks everyone, I think we will stay with the OKW.

We love OKW- would stay there again in a hearteat!! Also that is a great price I wouldn't give that up.:thumbsup2

Glad you decided to stay OKW. While we have never stayed there, we own DVC and love having breakfast in our rooms. We no longer stock up on food for other meals (my boys have fave spots for lunch and dinner) , but it is just so nice to have a relaxed start to the day and be able to have breakfast in your jammies (plus a good cup of coffee before you have made yourself presentable to the rest of the world! ;) ). Have fun!!
