We are supposed to leave for Disney Thursday morning 3/22. But yesterday, Monday, my 2.5 year old started throwing up, he kept us up all night but seems to be in better mood this morning.
I am not sure if we should reschedule, as who is to say if my 5 year old or my husband and I end up getting sick as well. My husband says we should still go as long as by tommorow he seems 100% but I am just worried

I've always found stomach bugs to hit in 24 - 48 hours, and last about 12 hours. So, if your family is anything like mine, it should be on its way out by Thursday. Don't you hate a stomach bug? It is impossible for me not to worry when they hit.

Good luck!

Yeah, I would wait till tomorrow AM and see how things are. Usually little people get through it fast. Hopefully all of you survive and don't get it as well.

I am not sure if it would be over by Thursdsay, since it is already Tuesday and who knows who and when will it hit next. I am the lysol queen when someone is sick here, so I have been spraying everything in the house, hoping that helps just a little bit.

Everyone in my house has had the stomach flu. This year it seems to last only a couple of hours and then your fine.

My son (who is now 5) catches stomach viruses regularly and is just a very "pukey" kid. He has tended to get an upset stomach on the plane ride to Disney. I have learned a few tricks. One of them is to give them 1/2, or maybe less in your case, of Dramamine pill. Bonine also has a child's dosage of motion sickness medication. If your poor little one has the dry heaves, the motion sickness medication will help the dry heaves to let up as motion sickness and dry heaves are both controlled by the same part of the brain. Stomach sickness usually lasts about 24 or 48 hours so you should be fine.

Just as an aside, I would always give my son Dimeatapp with the Dramamine so his ears stay clear during the flight. It also knocks him out for the flight too. My doctor told me to give him the medication about 1/2 hour before we take off.

To be safe, you could make a quick trip to the pediatrician to check the above and see what your doctor recommends, but I think you will be fine.

thank you, actually we are driving, we only live 3.5 hours away. What i am concerned about is us going up there and someone else getting sick

Two out of my five family members were sick last week. Everyone else is fine. Take precautions , like lysol and wash bedding in hot water. Hopefully you will all be fine and feeling great. Have fun and try not to worry:goodvibes

we had the same thing go through our house over the weekend, three of the six of us. I wiped everything down with Lysol and washed all the bedding & towels in hot water too. Another thing our DR advised us -- throw away your toothbrushes!
I hope have a great time!:goodvibes

lysol is good, but the best prevention is handwashing. Make sure everyone is washing their hands.

My DS had that last week. walked home from school on Wed was fine about 5 pm said his stomach hurt- next moment threw up, Threw up for 12 hrs straight. lstayed home Thursday started eating, went to school on Friday was fine. I didn't Lysol anything-don't even own any!, cleaned up of course, but didn't wash anything special, and no one else in the house came down with it. I think if it is the same virus he will be fine.

I would just make sure everybody keeps washing thier hands..and keep the hands away from the face. Wash everything in hot water, sheets pillow cases etc., have everyone use paper cups, plates and napkins..and use paper towels in the bathroom for drying hands...It may seem a bit crazy, but every llittle thing helps. I hope no one else gets sick and you all go and have a wonderful trip!!!!!!!

unfortunately it is looking like we will have to postpone our trip. My 2.5 year old did stop vomiting this morning, but then started up again this afternoon, he can not keep anything down at all.

Oh, I'm so sorry. We had to leave a Disney vacation early last year because our almost 2 year old had caught the stomach but. We only live 3.5 hours away also (we live in Naples) and we were leaving the next day anyway. You have to do what's best for your kids! Hope he's doing better soon!

I'm so sorry! I hope that you can reschedule soon!

Clear liquids for 24 hours, no milk for 3 days. Not that i've been there! My youngest does this once in a blue moon.
