What would you do...

Well I called DYFS I was told they would go to the home and observe. Basically go to the door and look in if the house looks dirty and the children look unkempt then they will come back with their equivalent of a warrant. Then they will be able to question the parents and the children. I told them what she had told me about rewarding her husband with drugs, and they said unless they or the authorities see them then it is my word against her's. I asked if the court could make them take drug test's and she said if it came to that. I also called the police in the town they live and was basically told the same thing but, they had a call from their neighbors saying that the children were home alone. When they got there though the parent was already home. I did give them her parents number and they said they would use it if needed because they would also prefer to see the kids with family or friends if possible. I am still really po'd about this and am really angry with her. She actually had the nerve to call me this morning. I was at my oldest DS's band practice when she called and left a message but I wont call her back. Well thanks all I feel like I did the right thing calling DYFS hopefully they can help these kids.

I'm not sure exactly why you are friends with these people. It doesn't sound like you actually like them or respect them. Why do you call them "friends"?

If I felt bad for the kids, I'd help the kids instead of calling CPS. But that's me. Either I help or I stay out of it. You have to do what you think is right.

You DID do the right thing! :grouphug:

Hopefully, now the kids will be able to get out of the situation.

Banshee - You truly did the right thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they have already had a visit from DYFS. My Dsis works in family court and she said that they do really try to place the kids with family and try to keep them together.

Well, I am glad to hear this! I was told this on the phone and I told the girl how the little guy is autistic and really get's along really well with his big brother, and if it came down to it and they were seperated he would probably have a complete meltdown. His big brother seems to be the only one that can get through to him.
