What would you do? (surgery related)

I can only answer by thinking "what if it were my child". If it were I think I would go the surgical route only because it seems to be to big for a "band-aid" which is what the aspiration sounds like it would be, a quick fix with no guarentee.

Good luck in making your decision and a speedy recovery whatever you decide.

As general anesthesia would be involved either way, and you don't have any guarantee that the aspiration would be a permanent solution, I would probably opt for the surgery. This way you can schedule it when it would be most convenient for your son so the surgery and rehab would have the least effect possible on his (and your) schedule.

Hope all the input you receive can make your decision easier.

My son had the samething we opted for the surgical route.

How long did he have it? Was aspiration an option? Why did you choose to go the surgical route and how long was the recovery?

Sorry for all the questions.......but thanks!!! :teeth:

I'd go for the sure cure surgical route.

By the way, I also had a Baker's cyst but mine went away by itself.

We opted for that route because it kept bothering him and he did not even want to try a needle asperation with the thought of the cyst returning. They also found a meniscus tear while doing the surgery. He was 15 when he had the surgery and was back to normal within 6 weeks. Feel free to pm me if you have anymore questions, I will do my best to answer them although this was 8 years ago.
